Yes, we have just moved to Kamloops. (Home of Aerosport Power) Well, we are moved but not moved in yet. Boxes everywhere! My shop is a shambles but we keep chipping away at unpacking the top floor and soon it will be shop time. It is all drywalled but not taped and mudded, so I'm getting close to or...

Van's RV-10 was up in Langley, B.C. over the weekend and I had a look at it on Saturday. Very impressively finished machine. When I first saw it, I didn't realize what it was. The green and white color scheme was tastefully understated.

John,
I did notice that Killacycle was branded onto the LED circuit board, so I think your guess is correct.

Poplar is not the same wood as Cottonwood. Poplar is quite strong compared to Cottonwood, which is possibly the weakest of all wood.

I have filled the voids between the glass tips and the metal with thick epoxy from Aircraft Spruce. It seems to fill pretty well and takes paint also.

Face it, anything we do is better than Cessna.

Snap, There is no color code for this red. I am using Nason Urethane, which is an "Experimental" branded paint by Dupont. (Read cheaper) I wanted the redest red I could get, so I told the guy that was mixing to put only pure red pigment in the mix. So, he took the amount of binder that would normall...

Snap, No, I just painted the area around the light where the glass was primed and sanded. The rest will get painted after I finish moving. I wanted to finish up the lighting and lenses before I packed the tips for moving. The wings and tail are in the truck and trailer as I speak. I'm taking my firs...

OK, so, buy me one of those Innodyne things and I'll give it a shot. With only 32 gallons capacity I'll have to land every hour and a half!
Cheers, Pete

PS Only 7 gals per hour per 100 HP.

Yes, ATC uses knots on their radar. Some avionics use only knots for some functions. MPH are for cars. Knots are for airplanes and boats. All airliners are set for knots, and so should your airplane.

Yes, I am currently flying an RV-4 built in the early 90s with only 500 hours on the airframe. Where the filling on the elevators was applied thickly, there are cracks. So go sparingly on the filler unless you want cracks. Filler by it's nature is not structural and the tail shakes and vibrates. Som...

Wingtip Lighting on sheared wingtips

I just got finished with the Creative Lighting system on my RV-8. I have some photos that I hope Spike will glue onto the bottom of this note. The LED boards have the center cutout which allows the landing light to beam through. I have off-set the strobe lights slightly from centerline to allow the ...

I dunno about the tail mounting. Most forced landings result in the aircraft turning over. How does the antenna radiate any signal from an upside down RV with it mounted as shown. My thought is to mount it in a wingtip which would work upside down also. The downside to wingtip mounting is that the w...

John, The same characteristics are true for any RV. I was flying my friends "4" today and my first landing was downwind about 8 knots and I had the airspeed nailed at 70mph over the fence, Well! It took about 800 feet to stop that puppy. I only had a swath cut about 10 to 12 feet wide in the tall gr...
