Very nice seeing something like this out of EAA. Many thanks. Is there a way to have it delivered via email regularly, or should I bookmark and re-check? BTW, flying out of St. Louis in a few minutes to BMI to see Terry Ruprecht and his RV-9A, just a few doors up from your old hangar (I'll touch the...

Hmm, a -9? Great choice!!! With an -8, I doubt Brit would want to look at the back of your head, assuming she will fly often. Really comes down to whether you want to do acro or not between the 7 or 9 (and the slightly more docile manners on the latter). Will be neat if you start this - keep us post...

I wholeheartedly agree with at least installing a conduit and wire, or as a minimum, a wire pull through cord (which you should have anyway in case you want to add another wire run down the road). With the brackets, you will have to decide on your servo choice now, though. Tru-Trak and Dynon share t...

The -9 can glide much further in an engine out situation, has a slower landing speed. It has a different airfoil and higher aspect wing - some say it may be a little more stable and smooth for IFR flying, but I have never seen data to prove that. Other than that, there is little difference from the ...

Brian - how do you figure a new ECI O-320 and Catto prop for 15k? O-320/160hp and 360/180hp engines are almost the same cost from everyone I've checked - Mattituck, Aerosport, etc. And the prop doesn't matter - folks put both c/s and fp props on both - personal preference. Kits are close to the same...

Re: Contratulations!
Yeah, dude, like let's have properly colored attire for your first flight. Don't make me send you a color wheel! Funny, Jim, on the TFR. In seriousness, this is an awesome moment - having watched your project directly for years and now this! Proud of you! Now the fun really begins. You'll be amazed ...

The ones I've seen come with the blade as one of the attachments. It may be fully circular, or a partial disc; all with tiny teeth. As the to and fro movement is so small, it won't cut soft materials well. When I used to cut casts off of scared children, I would hold the vibrating blade to my palm t...

BUT, while I did the same experiment, that same piece you are holding cracked midway through my cut, but fortunately the crack was in the scrap. After scratching my head (I also bent pieces way over like you), I figured the piece was loaded as the canopy sides were splayed significantly wider than t...

The Big Cut
Did the Big Cut today on the tip up canopy, and as many have reported, it wasn't bad at all and actually rather mundane. There has been a trend using vibrating saws as of late, and I used a Harbor Freight cheapy that worked well. Little debris, little odor, and very easy to control (I would first sc...

Wow, Jim!!!! Please keep us apprised - you have many friends here behind you. I have followed many patients with renal cell carcinoma (on the assumption that is what you have) that have done great and had no disruptions to their lives other than follow up checks and scans periodically. Hell, my own ...

Ahh, the seat backs explain some of it. I never made them as I intend to use the Classic Aero Aviator seats that have the integral frame. When you see that much left over angle, you scratch your head for a minute and hope you didn't forget something. Kind of like the bazillion left over rivets from ...

If he doesn't chime in, PM Mike Bullock. I recall he used Jet Flex on his interior. Can check his website http://www.rvplane.com/ also.
