SL-00047 brake o-rings

Post by A2022 »

notification of SL-00047 brake o-rings, recommended change from Buna-N to Viton, I'm not so sure. it seems Vans is trying to add some protection for fire but in cold weather the Viton will not seal well. I know this from experience. brakes are not a location I would like to have a leak in cold weather. the coldest I have flown is -30C (-22F) at ground level. I needed my brakes to work. I wonder what Vans experience is with Viton and brake operation at -30C (-22F)? For me, I will take a higher risk of fire over brake failure. I think Cleveland has it correct with Buna-N. I have been using the original Buna o-rings for 9 years, never a leak or problem. I am not one to drag the brakes.
