Chad,

Yeah, I know I have been terrible with updating my builders log. In actuality, my den had a slight water leakage issue that occurs only when it rains. Since it hasn't rained in 4+, my den is still in shambles. So I have been stuck using my laptop which doesn't have any of the photo editing software/ftp stuff on it. Hence no updates.

In reality, I am really chugging through wiring up the subpanel. There is a good chance it will be *finished* by the end of tonight!

So rest assured, I haven't been boating/drinking/traveling too much. The RV is making great progress!

Just as an update so people don't think I have stopped the project -- I got my panel fired up completely. everything seems to work, except I don't have my headset jacks wired up yet to test the audio.

The GRT screens keep on impressive me each day. They integrated seamlessly with the Garmin 430W via the Arinc interface.

Thats a great setup. I went to Osh just about settled on my panel and then talked for a few hours with the GRT guys. They might have sold me. Once you get it flying I want to come play with it and see what its like in a real installation.

That's great Mike! Glad to hear about the arinc integration as that is quite important to me with respect to the GRTs and 430. I think I have mentioned this before, but at this point if I were building a panel it would be along the same lines with a Dynon D10A as backup, nice work.

Don,

My panel is spaced/designed around putting a Dynon in below the EFIS's. I was originally going to put a D10A in, but since they have released their EFIS-D6, I am probably going to use that. The way I see it is I will have three different manufacturers providing me attitude information -- GRT on the main EFIS, Dynon on the backup EFIS and TruTrak on their autopilot. Can't get any more redundant than that!

Ah, I like that thinking Mike. I hadn't really even looked at the specs on the EFIS-D6 yet, something about being years away from that point. All I do know is I am going to try to eliminate as many mechanical gyros as possible.

Very nice panel - it's almost exactly what I had in mind, but with Dynon's in place of the GRT's. Personal choice - nice work!

Building a 9A with too much fuel and too much engine - should drop dead any minute now.
