screw up

Thanks guys, I did not realize I should not have dimpled them until I was dimpling the VS skin. The HS is done but I will have to undimple both the skin and rib at the same time. I made the assumption on the HS that they should be dimpled instead of asking. I stoppped and inquired before I dimpled t...

Screw up

I dimpled the holes in the top of both skins(and ribs) on the HS where the empennage fairing will attach later. Will it be a issue getting the nut plates on with the skin and rib dimpled? I have no experience with nut plates yet so I am looking for input. Thanks

Torqued bolts?

I am wondering if anyone is putting anything on there bolts after they are torqued? I do not know what it is called but have seen it used on the plane I rent. They put it on the nut and the thread on the bolt so you know if it has loosened up. I was thinking it would be a good way to know that the b...

The hole was in the skin but not the rib. I was thinking the same thing Chad. It's possible it did not get programmed into the CNC machine.

Vertical stab nose ribs?

Is there a reason why both of the nose ribs on the vertical stab have only one of the holes in the tip of the rib? According to the plans the tip of both nose ribs should have two holes on each side but there is only one, the one nearest the tip is not prepunched in the rib, the hole is in the skin?...

HS is done!

Finished up the HS today! A small milestone. It feels good to have it done. My friend Bruce was over to give me a hand and we also started on the vertical stab. I only got a couple pics and neither are very good, sorry. [img][img]http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab256/jparishphoto/RV%20practice%20...

I do have that one I believe cleveland sells it though? I first bought the one from Avery at Osh this year it was a round piece of wood with two rollers attatched before I saw the one from cleveland the vice grip style. Thanks Dave that is good advice because I think the one with just the two roller...

I was using a micro stop countersink. The one that was .012 deep with a rivet in it beleive it or not was the first one I did. I set the depth on a practice piece but what threw me off was the edge of the spar is at a slight angle and I was not perpindicular to it when I started and the bit seemed t...

edge preperation

I am wondering about edge preparation on the skins. My question, is anyone putting the slight bend on the outside edges of the skin as you would on a lap joint? I have looked at quite a few build sites, which alot of them are frequently on this forum and it appears to me that it is only done in the ...

Thanks guys, I was dissappointed when I noticed them and then did the other half of the HS and it came out with just a few little scratches from the nose ribs. I am going to prime the inside with what vans uses(sherwin williams) So I will sand them out before priming the inside. Chad I think you may...
