I didn't however find anything about the fate of the pilot in the #45 plane that was crashing. I am sure he didn't survive.
It was Alexandre Krotov and he survived, albeit seriously injured.

Hello Spike,

You´re right! That was new to me, but I´m not that much into Cessnas anyway! ;-)

Hi Spike, I don´t remember what year the 172 was exactly, but I know it was definately not 1990 or later! And it definately was not an IO-something (injected), but a plain old carburator version. Seriously, there are more 172 versions flying than I have fingers on my hands and then I´m not counting ...

Hi Spike, hmm, at least the C172 I did my licence in had an O-320 installed, not an O-360! If we´re talking derating an engine, I haven´t heard of any O-360 engines being derated to 160hp or less, but I´ve seen a couple of (I)O-540 being derated to 250/235hp purely by limiting rpm´s. Just my 2 cents...

I totally agree that (major) modifications must be done to the airframe, but the nature of my question was even more generic... Also the regs need to be checked out thoroughly, however I have seen an N-registered Experimental (a Pitts S1S) with a tow-hook fitted here in Germany if I´m not completely...

RV for towing gliders?

Hi,

I´m neither an RV-builder, nor am I lucky enough to fly one....!
However, I curious if anybody here (or somewhere else) has ever seriously considered using an RV for towing gliders (or banners for that matter)?

Hi, There is a BIG difference between smoke and smoke! A friend of mine recently modified the smoke system on his Pitts as it was a bit weak.... He´s running a high pressure pump (somewhere around 8psi I believe) that delivers 4-6gallons of smoke fluid through an adjustable valve into the nozzle. We...
