Guys,

Seems the most reasonable approach.

Thank you,

Left Elevator question

The four outboard rivets on the E-606 trim spar are called out as MK-319-BS. Looking for preparation information. I found but do not remember where that the drill size is # 34 which is right between a -3 and a -4. So, finally, the question. What do I use to dimple? I have a 1/8" 120 degree dimple di...

HS Spars

Don, I think I may have had more than required pressure thus stretching the flange. I just got of the phone with Van's they said that this was not uncommon. They said that I could flute if I wanted to but that it was probably more effort than it was worth. They suggested that if I cleckoed the stabi...

Spike, If I use finger pressure I can push the spars down flat. Thinking that I might just use them as is. I am worried that if I flute these after match drilling everything that the spacing may change and the skin holes will no longer line up. Might try just clecoing everything together to see how ...

Dimpling Front and Rear Spars

I just finished dimpling the skin flanges on the Front and Rear Spars (HS-702 and HS-603). I was somewhat surprised at the amount of bowing this operation created. Dimpling the flanges stretched the skin attach flanges to the point that the HS-603 bows 3/3" at mid span. I am assuming that this is no...

One Hole Deburr Bits

Bruce,

Thanks for the advice.

I have been experimenting as advised, after finding techniques that work things are speeding up. I must say though that the discovery is half the fun.

Where would I find the bits you show in the photos?

Clarifying my ambiguity

First thank you all for replying and I apologize for my fuzzy language. I am talking about deburring holes that have been transfer or match drilled #40 for 426AD3 flush rivets. I am using a deburring bit, both a 3 flute and a 4 flute, and am talking about the skin flanges of the HS-404, -405, -706, ...

Dimpling Understructure for Horizontal Stabilizer

Another couple new guy type questions. First I have an Avery swivel handle three flute deburr tool and I also have a 4 flute deburr tool. I have tried them both by hand or in a slow drill motor. Either one is capable of creating a little chatter. In fact when I look at the holes with a 4 X loop they...

Horizontal Stabilizer Question

Assembling the HS I noticed that the fwd flange standoff of the forward end of the Inner Aft Rib (HS-405) creates a situation where the ED of the skin flange on same rib is only 1.5 at best. The 405 rib gets location from the Forward Spar HS-702. Checking the drawings, both the View B-B and the Plan...

RV7 Newbie question

I have just started the Horizontal Stabilizer. I have a question regarding trimming of the HS-702 Forward Spar flanges. If I trim the flanges from the relief notch inboard the remaining web will be narrower because of the flange radius. Do most builders unbend the flange inboard of the notch, unbend...
