Re: Flyout to Washington DC KCGS?
I will work on my PIN application tomorrow. If I get it in time, I will make the 20 min trek! Sounds good. Moved the date to Aug. 5th as previous date conflicted with those who might choose to go to OSH. Added a proposed itinerary to the original post and corrected the date. Hope that weekend still...

Flyout to Washington DC KCGS?
Hey Guys, We had a weekend flight to Washington, landing at College Park (KCGS) a couple of weeks ago. Missed visiting aviation museum at College Park (they have one right at the airport). Vlad says he is "in". How about Saturday Aug 5th? That would give plenty of time for pilots to get their PINs. ...

Meigs fly-in Saturday
Flash Mob. Sorry for the short notice.... Meigs fly-in tomorrow. Once in a lifetime event. We plan to be there. I was told that I do not need to file a flight plan or pre-arrange US customs even though we are flyin in from Canada. CBP said that they will just meet us there, and since there is no fue...

Canadair Challenger - off topic
Saw this Canadian National Film Board documentary on the first Canadair Challenger (now Bombardier) back in the late '70's or early '80s. The best part I remember is the flying photography of this plane at the end of the film. Just awesome memory of that perfectly matched to music (Paschelbel Canon ...

OT / and you think you are such a smart pilot.....
This is somewhat off topic but came across this news item. Dogs go to flying school. I figured it probably should have been published on April 1st.

Quebec city is my first choice
Vlad , We'll meet you at Smiths Falls, weather permitting. By the way, our plane has made the front page for Peterborough's (CYPQ) Landing 27 restaurant on TripAdvisor. Very good restaurant by the way. http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g155008-d768589-Reviews-The_Landing_27_Bistro-Peterbo...

Motivator - DC3T Recovery in Antarctica - video
After having posted this on the "other" site under "Temp / Test / Misc. (posts deleted after 2 weeks)", the post is gone, likely the act of an overzealous moderator... hope it sees some appreciation on this site. Not RV related... but how about rebuilding a Canadian DC3T (C-GEAI) on the ice in 40 d...

Training
Anyone who is doing some training nearby will probably fly over with their instructor and complete their ticket in a very short time. If I lived any closer, I would change my vacation plans and take the month of October off :-) I tried the poll function on this site, however it does not seem to work...

Extension
I have an rv9a and left the gascolator in its intended position. Used a brass extension tube ... don't remember the length but got it from the aircraft isle of Home Depot. Just a small hole in the cowl and the drain is just below the bottom of the cowl. Easy to drain daily. Wish I had photos on hand...

Whacking at metal ...
I just had my passenger step re-welded due to a crack. I believe that the crack was caused by the brutal bending of the rear lip of the step flat plate (rear most, to conform to fuselage). I saw the work of an expert builder in our area, and he just cuts the offending piece of metal off. No cracks f...

Re: A fuel pressure test
I did a little checking on this whole fuel pressure issue. There's a theory going around that your typical fuel pressure sender has a small hole in it that vents one side of the sensor to outside air pressure - and that affects the fuel pressure the sender measures. The fuel pressure goes back up w...
