Re: Hello I'm new

Really like to know what faults you are finding on quick build by vans. I have 40 years as a a&p and have been involved in the prototype x47b and wouldn’t call vans rivets “fair at best”.
I suspect that comment was a attempt to concern the unknowing and try to drum up business.

Hope so. If you want a really sweet big dog check out Great Pyrenees Rescue Atlanta. They come in large to very large.

Sure, constant speed prop and a 200 hp 360. It's a rocket.

Re: RIP Co-Pilot Wyatt

No dog until 80?! This is why I'm not married to a dream killer. I recently adopted a Great Pyrenees (see Leandra puppies on Google). I can't imagine life without a dog, they are one of the best things in life.

EGT probes

Anyone know if MGL uses grounded or ungrounded EGT probes? Yes I posted on MGL site, no much activity there.

Data Plate

Just curious as what people use as the Make/Model on the aircraft data plate. As I understand you can call it anything you want.

main gear

I'll ask here since I got nothing but stupid comments when I asked on vaf (what a great resource, not.)
Anyone know how to identify the left and right gear legs on a A model?
Are they symmetrical?
I assume not since vans has different part numbers for each.
Thankd

I'm happy with the quality of my quick build 7. I'm a ex airline and very experienced sheet metal a&p. Found nothing worth fixing or any bad rivets done by the factory.

Anyone know how to delete my account on VAF? I can't take it anymore. It's like a bad accident, you don't want to look but you can't help yourself.

Lifes Work

If you want to spend the rest of your life trying to keep it polished, don't paint.
The paint ain't cheap but what is your time worth?
Just noticed where you live. You can leave it outside during a sandstorm and get that nice brushed aluminum look.

Rivet

It's a poor mechanic that blames his tools. Sorry couldn't resist. As I have said before in the aircraft industry we do not use regulators on our rivet guns and shop pressure is usually 90psi. It's all about technique and having a gun with a good throttle. I've shot -4 rivets with a 4X gun. It is a ...

More likely you had a runaway then the breaker popped. Don't dismiss a popped breaker, find out what caused the fault. Probably intermittent.

Good luck with them. I had a brand new one that did the same thing. No kickback but they wanted to argue. I finally won and they sent a new one.
The new one had a smooth nose while the broken ones nose was rather lumpy.
Makes me think the early design was defective and they changed it on the down low.
