Oh my...I am now super embarrassed to say that I have those vice-grip dimplers and completely forgot about them! Since I ordered my fuse and finish kit, I've totally re-organized and cleaned my garage to make room. This involved putting tools away that I haven't used in a while. Completely fo...

Edge rolling wing skins. Did you?
Are you guys doing the edge rolling on the wing skins? It seems that once the edge gets bent, it would make it hard to dimple the holes. They look like they would be right where the bend is. I already have my top inboard wing skin dimpled but before I dimple the rest of the skins, I'm wondering if m...

I really don't want to try to buck rivets in this area. Seems I've read a lot of posts and a lot of builders logs where people started trying to buck rivets, and then switched to pulled rivets. I don't want to be bucking rivets and then have to drill half of them out! I will just use pulled rivets a...

leading edge rib flange rivets...
I want to use pop rivets for the aft flange on the leading edge ribs but of course Vans does not state which rivets to use.
Does anyone who may have used pop-rivets know the type/size of rivets used?
Thanks

I bought some balloons to leak test my tanks and they are too big. I can't get them to seal on the vent nipple. I just need to go get some smaller balloons that will fit better. In the mean time, I've been moving on. I just finished deburring, dimpling, and cleaning up all the holes in the rear spar...

Fuel Tanks DONE!!
After almost a year I have finished my fuel tanks!! I have to admit though that I made a (maybe) big error. When I sealed and riveted on the backplate, I only put a small thin layer of sealant on the two end ribs. I seriously don't know what the heck I was thinking!! The root rib was no problems at ...

Found a real good thread right here on RB about sealing the tanks. I think the main reason I'm leary of doing this is because I don't know how to get a nice bead of sealant down the skin holes. I've seen some people use those little syringes they got from Target, but I have no idea what kind of vood...

Sealing off the fuel tanks
I've been fearing this step for a while, but I'm ready to do it! I'm looking for advice/videos/tips/photos on installing, sealing, and riveting the rear baffle of the fuel tanks. This is a critical step and I want to get it right so they don't leak. What are some ways you spread the sealant on the r...

Fuel Tank Progess!
Man I've got a lot done lately! Both of my tanks are at the same point-all of the ribs are sealed and riveted. Now I'm just working on fitting the fuel pick-up tubes and the floats, and I'll be ready to close these bad boys up. http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n7/marky613/TankA_zps2e64baa3.png htt...
