Hey CJ, if you've never been to NH we've always got an extra room for you. :-)

Re: Drilling stainless firewall *HELP*

Slow the speed down. Drill at a very slow RPM. Too fast and it won't cut.

Re: Quick build kits

Other than wing tank leaks, my biggest fear was the wings wouldn't match up and connect the way they should. Well no worries, CJ and his crew came up to KCON one day and helped me install them. All the connections and fittings matched up fine. Back when I got the wings I installed the gauge senders ...

Re: Quick build kits

I've got 100 hours on my Quick Build 9. The Quick build quality was excellent, no fuel tank problems. The idea of Quick Build leaves one with the impression that it's mostly done. Not so, you have plenty of areas to screw up if you're not meticulous. For example the canopy is very demanding. To me, ...

Re: Hello I'm new

Can a armature builder build 100 percent without paperwork and not be restrictive?

On this part of the question, any builder (A&P or not) needs to keep paperwork and show it to he FAA if they expect to get an airworthiness certificate and be able to fly the plane when it's completed.

Re: Hello I'm new

A&P or no A&P, the only time that makes any difference to the FAA is when doing a condition inspection. A&P can inspect a plan he/she didn't build, otherwise only the builder who got the certificate can inspect.

So whether the builder is an A&P or not the 51% still applies.

Re: Black Otter 2017

Now that I've almost got a flying RV, I certainly want to join the festivities. My wife, Evelyn and I will be looking forward to joining you. I'll have a car, so if anyone needs a ride I'll have probably room for two or three.

Re: OMG! Fuel hose alert

How long is the fuel hose, if you need a new one I've got an extra that I replaced on my new engine because I needed a longer one. The extra fuel hose I have is 32".

Re: Quick build order

Also, is the canopy done? When the engine comes, do complete installation, then mount avionics boxes and run wires, plumb engine hoses, wire engine, lots to do still.

Stay at it you'll get there before you expect to and be flying.

Steve who hits pauses also.

Re: Quick build order

Do as many small tasks as you can, that haven't been done. Seat belt brackets, mounting the ELT, some firewall fixtures based on plan, are the wheels brakes, wheel pants done? Finish the wing tips, lights installed etc.

Been there similar thinking , had to keep plugging along.

Re: RV9 Panel

The hardest part of the panel design was planning the behind the panel placement of all the G3X boxes from Garmin. I looked at a all the posts from others and relied on quite a few years of my own flight experience to determine what I wanted and where to place displays and switches on the panel. Als...

Re: RIP Co-Pilot Wyatt

I'll put it on my calendar. RV may be flying, I hope. Just finished up the G3X, G5, and GTN625 coupled to the VP-X. All the wires, switches and lights are working as as advertised. CHT's and EGTs show temps with a heat gun test. Engine is wired and ready to run once it gets to the airport. Next step...

Re: RIP Co-Pilot Wyatt

What a neat idea and video to show it. Good job, I wish I had thought of that years ago. The video reminded of the time I spread my dad's ashes over Mt. Washington in a 172. I slowed the airspeed, opened the window and shook the ashes out. What I didn't think of at the time... was the bone fragments...

Has anyone got experience with the Warning from AIrflow Perfromance I copied to post below? Steve Warning: Airflow Performance and Bendix/Precision fuel injection systems are non-returning systems.
