Re: Zizzo Liberte - folding bike

I cut 4cm off the handlebar width from the Zizzo speedster. A couple proper pedal spacers. It was cool weather today. When I departed in the late afternoon it was 1C. The lobster gloves did not give me any problems in the bike cockpit. Some warm soup midway helped. 30 miles today and the handlebars ...

Re: Zizzo Liberte - folding bike

It was nice to be able to ride in February in Ohio. Some snow traces still on the trail to a couple of villages. Only about 30 miles but my legs felt like it was 60. That's what to expect after a hard winter and no riding. A new people bridge to bring more to the bike trail. I found that I like a co...

Re: A flight without a bike aboard

I am not sure why looking at ice that is ready to thaw was so peaceful and pleasing. I went round and round with some tunes.

Top cowling pin interlock

I bent the top cowling pins and interlocked them to be free-floating, and after 1,400 hours, I’ve determined this method works well.

Nearly a quarter million views on Google Reviews in January—it seems many people are turning to Google Maps for feedback.

Re: A flight without a bike aboard

A quick trip to Wichita for a couple of parties—just three days in and out. Traveling across the plains in the middle of a U.S. winter can be exciting, but this time the weather was on my side. It was chilly at takeoff in Cincy (-17°C) but pleasantly warm in Wichita on the second day (+23°C). I defi...

Re: One-Meal-A-Day (OMAD), a powerful tool to manage your health, fly longer

As a retired guy aiming to lose weight without sacrificing muscle, I started OMAD along with some bodyweight resistance training. After nearly a year, my weight is right on target and my fitness has improved. I crossed over 5K push-ups today. I had a couple down days because of eating too much choco...

Re: A couple printed widgets

I tested the 3-inch-wide air dams today. OAT was -4°C at takeoff and -10°C at altitude. Oil temperature stabilized at 177°F during cruise, while CHT reached 330°F during an aggressive climb and settled at 320°F in cruise. I think these wider air dams could be beneficial. I’m really glad I flew today...

Re: Sardines - a superfood

My eye exam went well today, with all results positive. My distance correction is -0.75. I just ordered two pairs of sunglasses since, after 10 years, my old pair was completely worn out and covered in scratches. I tend to be pretty hard on sunglasses.

Omega-3 in sardines is great for eye health.

Re: A couple printed widgets

Driven by my eternal curiosity, I decided to try a 3-inch-wide cowl air dam for an RV9, which is 0.5 inches wider than the widest one I currently have. I printed it hollow, like a balloon. https://i.postimg.cc/rpz7MXpR/IMG20260202131545.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/wTT0Z1QC/IMG20260202152612.jpg https:/...

Re: A flight without a bike aboard

I cleared the snow in front of the hangar and took off into the clear blue sky. Before leaving, I warmed my feet by the fireplace—once you catch the scent of burning rubber, you know you’ve had enough heat. A great way to kick off February. It’s surprising how -4°C can actually feel warm. My oil rea...

Sardines - a superfood

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been eating more sardines because they’re a great source of protein and I enjoy them. They’re considered a superfood and are also pretty affordable. I like the ones packed in olive oil. Much better for you than McDonalds and they can easily travel with you. Your ...

Re: Cold therapy - it works

I start with a hot shower and finish with a blast of cold. I’ve noticed that my feet are red during the hot part but turn pale when the cold hits. Once they turn pale, I figure it’s time to wrap it up. The body has three types of muscle, and taking a cold shower really works one of them. Some of us ...

I’m working on a basic filament respooler powered by a drill motor, a simple and straightforward device for transferring large spools of plastic to smaller ones. This particular setup handles a smaller 3kg spool. I’ve noticed some cost savings when buying larger spools. https://i.postimg.cc/8sgGs4nD...

RV8A - ASN Report - Queensland - VH-MKX I’m not sure if this aircraft was still fitted with a Subaru engine. It has crashed before due to engine issues. A Van's RV-8A crashed under unknown circumstances into some bushland, shortly after takeoff from runway 28 at Heck Field Airport (YHEC), Norwell, Q...

Re: Cold therapy - it works

One nice thing about stepping out of an ice-cold shower is that, even in the winter, you feel warmer once you’re out. :) Today it was -9C, (16F) and I shoveled snow bare chested because I was hot. We had 10 inches in Cincy. https://stayshredded.com.au/blogs/news/take-a-cold-shower-7-massive-benefits...

Re: A couple printed widgets

For no particular reason, I decided to turn the hose baffle mount into a wire seal. I was going to name it the El Grande Suprimo Wire Seal, but ended up calling it the 4-Screw Wire Seal instead. :) This one is polyphenylene sulfide material, rated for up to 350°F. Just another option. Strong like Bu...
