Re: SB-00036 inspection
perhaps the new hinge bracket could look something like this for the bracket ears. not sure how the existing rivets line up but could always add a hole if needed. need precision bends and may require 3 hands to install. not sure if there is enough room to squeeze this into the space but this bracket...

Re: textured floorboard
more carbon fiber floor plate testing with boots on. it was really nice! when carbon fiber air ride becomes standard, remember, you saw it first right here on RivetBangers! -7C on the ground here today at takeoff, -17C at 4500 ft (squeezed my way on top but below the Class-B 5000 ft floor), but I wa...

what can I say, it feels good. I made some in-flight photos to understand if there is some flex with normal heel pressure. I think there is some. tennis shoe size = 13 US. https://i.postimg.cc/zDTzpsm7/IMG20230201150319.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/SKKRvDLs/IMG20230201150219.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Bvw...

Re: a couple printed widgets
first seat back storage tray to ship to a customer. I am still working on my gluing technique, trying to not make a mess. I have had these installed on both sides of my aircraft for 6 months now and have beat them up, loading and unloading baggage and bikes and they are perfect condition. I am very ...

nice photo capture. is it true that the 8's had a hard time keeping up? nah engineering update: https://content.eaa.org/Videos/Homebuilders-Week/Homebuilders-Week-2023/6319422214112 seem to be a lot of misses on the initial design philosophy but they are recovering. how do you miss storing fuel in t...

Re: textured floorboard
say hello to heel air ride! spaced the 3M dual lock so the heel will be supported by the thin carbon fiber sheet. allows for flex and should reduce vibration felt in the heel. I think I am going to really like this but needs to be flight tested. it looks good! this carbon fiber sheet cut very well w...

Zizzo Forte pannier brackets are on, and they seem good. full up riding trips will be the real test. https://i.postimg.cc/cLrzL9XS/IMG20230131173508.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/FsFq2sS1/IMG20230131173515.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/jd89K06c/IMG20230131173535.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Qdwy9QyW/IMG2023013117...

Airventure - Doobie Brothers
last year at Oshkosh I parked by the doobie brothers from Texas in a silver/black/maroon RV10. when I smelled the smoke and saw them get in the plane for takeoff, I said this is the last time I will attend Oshkosh. now I know why there are so many accidents there. if you are going to fly you need to...

Re: textured floorboard
getting ready for the carbon fiber. removed the alum floorboard and silicone. heat the alum sheet with a heat gun to then roll it off. I think I'll use 3M dual lock to secure the carbon fiber. https://i.postimg.cc/zfzJg2w2/IMG20230129164903.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/sg9j1CWZ/IMG20230129171022.jpg htt...

Re: Zizzo Liberte - folding bike
loaded baggage test runs were good. 18 lb of water in the front bag. printing the left-side pannier support bracket now. angled the mating bracket surface to fit flush and pocket recess to clear tube and weldment. rounded the corner of the bracket to eliminate any sharp edges. where the tent is now,...

Fuel line fitting - RV7 accident N611E
be careful about those small alum fuel line fittings. recommend steel... anytime you work on a fuel system, put on your slow down "working fuel system hat". otherwise, you will probably get a wrecked airplane and a trip to the hospital. I also noted there were 5 RVs that ran out of fuel last year. t...

Re: Zizzo Liberte - folding bike
I think this is going to work. this bracket moves my panniers aft, so I don't have heel strike when I pedal. first print, good fit and very secure. I don't believe I will need nylon / carbon fiber for this. this plastic should be fine, not much load. need to make and install the opposite side and th...

Re: SB-00036 inspection
to answer the email. these photos were taken using a cell phone thru the outer rib lightening holes. I used a standard flashlight for lighting. the inspection took about two minutes. you don't want to be flying around with a cracked horizontal stab spar. if you are going to be doing aerobatics, I wo...

carbon fiber plate. after reviewing various carbon fiber plate I decided to go with some good stuff and reduce the thickness. 1.2mm plate using 12K tows from a US manufacturer. the stuff on Amazon is from China and is 3K tows and some comments of really poor edge quality when cutting, like massive f...

Re: Zizzo Liberte - folding bike
I need a pannier lower attachment arm. thinking of printing something. https://i.postimg.cc/Wp5tLgqV/IMG20230124172102.jpg **************** maybe something like this, nylon / carbon fiber? this will have some lateral motion, but I think that is OK. it just needs to restrain in the downwards directio...

Re: textured floorboard
two things I don't like about mine; 1) they don't extend far enough forward and when the rudder pedel is depressed fully the heel catches on the fwd edge. that's the worst of it. 2) they eventually deform and curl at the edges. I don't believe a carbon fiber panel would do that. https://i.postimg.cc...

conduit burn test. impressive! burn video... if it works.... https://photos.app.goo.gl/o74EjxfZRaC9mEEBA **************** checking conduit hanger spacing on a rib. obviously to be installed on the opposite side. looks fine. https://i.postimg.cc/TYHxQcLy/IMG20230124152949.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/L8Y...
