Re: RV6A - final report - N330RH
I havent had the balls to land on grass yet. When my plane was in phase 1, the guy doing my flights did go into a couple Idaho back country grass strips and it worked fine. I have a friend here that has a nice strip that I may try out one of these days - but with my instructor with me the firs few l...

Re: Summer camping trip to Payson, AZ write up
Looks like fun Bruce. It has been so hot and rainy here in Michigan not much flying for me lately. Im planning a trip out west for early fall once it cools off a bit. Are you going to Air Venture? I want to fly over but still a bit freaked out by the traffic and crazy arrival procedures. I may fly o...

Re: RV12 - Preliminary Report - N412JN
After looking at it closer I finally figured out what the problem was. Not sure why it was so hard for me to see. That freaks me out even more. Im going to check all my controls from start to finish. After looking closely at the 9A plans, I dont think this error is possible. The control tubes wouldn...

Re: RV12 - Preliminary Report - N412JN
Looking at the two pictures I am not understanding what is different. Maybe on my phone it is too small. I may pop my floors off to check mine next week when I am back in town.

Re: RV12 - Preliminary Report - N412JN
Wow. Seeing that picture is crazy. As for the DAR not finding it, the guy that did mine said he wasnt there to make sure everything was done correctly - that was my job as the builder. If he noticed anything that didnt look right he would point it out but there was no way he could know everything ab...

Re: RV12 - ASN report - N412JN
That is terrible. It looked like such a nice plane. It will be interesting to see what they find. As for the trim, I am wondering if it is worth the risk having the trim. Especially if you are flying with A/P. I had what I think was a run away trim last week on a flight. I had to really push to over...

How can a guy get in a plane to go for a flight and not look in the tanks? I dont get that.

Re: Zizzo Liberte - folding bike
My wife and I flew up to Mackinac Island on Thursday. Great flight up, fun on the island, and a really bumpy flight back! We were on flight following and getting close to the MOA along the route and ATC came on and said it would be a good idea to turn 20 degrees to the left because the fighters were...

Re: Zizzo Liberte - folding bike
Did the RV 7 dude mess with you again? Looks like a nice trip. Lots of biking. I cant sleep on the ground without at least an airbed so I dont see bike camping in my future but we started riding again to get ready for this summer. We are heading down to Muncie MIE on Wednesday to see old friends for...

Re: Newbie pilot RV9A porpoise on landing but saved it
I saw that earlier today. Wow, looked like maybe too fast? The gear was stronger than I expected. It didnt look like he was able to climb out very easily. Maybe left carb heat on or mixture too rich or lean? It would be interesting to be able to question the guy.

That is a shame to damage a plane so soon after finishing. I cant imagine the stuff going through that pilots head now. Ugg

Re: what did you do this week - 2024FW8
Looks like a nice trip. I went over the clouds on our trip to Shreveport but I could see on weather it was clear about 30 miles to the west. I am not confident enough to go over if I cant see clear sky somewhere. I would like to get more instruction on IFR flying. It is cloudy so often here that goi...

That is a shame. When I landed yesterday the x wind was a little squirrelly and I can see how loss of control can happen.

Re: RV10 - aircraft down - Final Report - N4400K
If it had a pmag or other system that used auto plugs, maybe they dont have the screw on plug wires? I cant imaging flying without secure wires. I hope I am wrong about the pmags. I may consider them when my 500 hour mag rebuild comes up.

Re: RV6 - aircraft down - ASN Report - N30AK
I read that a friend said his wife was not a fan of flying and didnt want him to go far. Not that it makes sense but we all do things for reasons. Some good, some not. Sad situation for all involved. He had lots of guys that knew him at his airport.

That really is a pretty plane. I would like more info on the engine. Looks like a radial but thin?
If you are ever up into Michigan around Mason - KTEW let me know. I have a 9A up here and looking for a bit of good weather to fly!! It has been crap here since before Christmas.

Re: what did you do this week - 2024FW1
Well, crappy weather up here for another week. Last time I went up about a week ago I was almost instantly in clouds. Took off in one direction and did a 180 and landed the opposite direction. The 10 day forecast shows no flying. Ugg!
