Yup, thats Neil that I was referring to. Its a sweet plane and the engine has treated him fairly well. I just remember the rigmarole that was gone through to the baffles/linkages/cowling to work for that engine. Its not that it was a really tough engineering problem, just an engine without a factory...

I have a very good friend that has had one flying in an 8A for 10 years. The cam lobe wear problem is where that engine gets a bit of a reputation. However, I believe that there is some lore to that and in general is a very solid power plant. I know that Neil had to do a fair bit of work to get the ...

So out of curiosity Chad, why did you decide on another RV?

There is lots of good stuff out there and I know some of it you have eyed up in the past. It would be neat to hear about your decision making process for round 2.

I can't speak for the other site, but these are the massive costs that it takes to run RivetBangers: $20/year for domain registration for RivetBangers.com and RivetBangers.net $48/year for the server (but this also runs RVPlane.com along with some other personal sites). The staggering sum of all of...

I was going to say Bummer, but id rather it be the pump than junk in the lines. One should be easier to handle than the other.

Though that might beg the question, did the pump launch junk down stream of itself?

Uggh.

Hey Bro,

Just a thought, lots of home builders end up having fuel problems because of debris in the lines from constructions. Is it possible that the fuel pump ended up sifting a shaving or chip from the lines before it got further downstream?

Re: VFR on top experience

1) I need an instrument rating. I really have no excuse now - my new neighbor is a CFII. I was stuck on the ground at KUGN for over 4 hours waiting for the ATIS to report the clouds >= 1,000', even though I could see blue skies. Thats really everything right there. Flying as much as you do, and doi...

The irony is that I tried to reply with m2f once this went out and the email didnt get processed. Looks like the script is having some db issues in the logs.

Time for a change ...

Hey RB'ers, As I am sure some of you have noticed, the past few years have proven very difficult for Patti and I to stay as involved in RB as we had been in the past when the site was younger. Actually, to be truthful about it, I have been fairly disappointed in the general lack of involvement and u...
