Need more Wire holes through wing spar
I am running out of access holes to send wires/cables through the wing spar on my RV7. There are two holes on the centerline and two outboard. 6 total. All filled. I still need to run comm and Nav antenna coax. There is a triangular gusset on the wing spar top, both ends. I am considering holes thro...

Thread locker
Thread locker. Im not talking about typical loctite. They might make it, though. What is the stuff called that is painted on a screw head, usually blue in color, to identify if the screw moved at a later inspection causing a shear in the paint? Can think of it, cant find the right search words to ev...

Presbyopia
I think its called Presbyopia. Good far vision. I'm almost 50. Started to notice it at 40 for very close up projects. Now I need reading glasses for reading text messages on the phone and reading a restaurant menu. Dad says it only gets worse.

Re: WANTED: Experienced aircraft electrician
No objective data or statistics, just hearsay and speculation. I did hear just a few days ago about a RV10 that when down near Cincinnati due to smoke in the cockpit. I suspect an amateur wire job. Heard this happening before. I think that RV10 fire you're talking about was caused by a loose fuel l...

Yes, I have thought at times I don't have a clue what I'm doing and later resolved it. This is true for many of life's obstacles. I had someone hold my hand when I did the empenage, The frame was a quick build. Ive been reading the manual, performing the sub-assemblies as per the plans and talking t...

Correct me if I wrong. The FAA shares the BOS with state tax collection departments. The state can use that as their basis to charge use tax. I seen this personally happen back in 1991 with a Cessna 310 I bought. Somehow I got a demand notice for 6% of the BOS at the time from Florida. I dont know w...

I agree with everything you said Brantel. But, going back to my second example, an empennage kit and other miscellaneous parts. Say a $2000 BOS from vans plus a $1000 no receipt bag of parts. $2000 is declared at time of FAA registry because of the BOS. Now, say I do nothing with it and it sits unas...

Registration and State Sales/Use Tax
The process seems to start at FAA Registration with form 8050-88: http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/aircraft_certification/aircraft_registry/media/8050-88.pdf If a person buys former kits from out of state individuals who gave up on their projects, and didn't provide any bill of sales, he now...
