Nose gear mount loose.
:? Hello My leg attach bolt (AN5-20A) on my 7a nose gear is loose in the mounting socket. See DWG 46a. It Shows AN5-20a bolt is used.* If I raise the nose just high enough to clear the floor there is lateral movement in the socket as measured by a notch on the floor showing tire movement of 1/2"*lef...

Re: Machine screw drives
Thanks Mike...
I found the same results looking around ......no one vendor has it all. Do you think Torx is better than square (Robertson) drive. I hope to use one drive tool for all screws

Machine screw drives
Vans supplied lots of Phillips head machine screws for the short 1/2", 8-32 and 6-32 used commonly on my RV7. Phillips, in my opinion, is a poor drive choice because you have to be so careful not to cam-out and damage the screw drive when using a power tool. Same thing for Allen/Hex drive heads. I'm...

Improving Cabin Heat
I'm using an IO-360-M1B on my seven with a single heater can off the number 1 cylinder (forward right cylinder) as supplied by Vans. Not enough heat temperature and flow. Inside the can, the exhaust is wrapped with 15' copper #8 gauge wire in hopes of capturing more radiant heat. Doesn't work so wel...

I built them according to the drawings. Don't remember seeing any springs in the plans, so no. I need to add them. Looks like regular hardware bought material, trial and error installation, no retrofit kits? Where did you get the springs and collars? Attachment hardware looks like standard AN3 bolts...

Wheel/ Brake drags intermittently.
This is a case of a newer (90 hrs air frame) RV7a with a left wheel or brake that intermittently drags/ binds. Have to use excessive power to taxi off the runway after one takeoff. This has happened more than once. Park the aircraft and wait 5-10 minutes then the problem is gone. You can push or pul...

I'm not skilled at using relays. How and where would you place the relays? I would love to suggest something to the VP person. Hmmmm... well this would be better if Marc Ausman were here to discuss his product personally. I haven't shelled out the loot for my VP-X yet but plan on doing it soon. Whe...

Vertical Power VPX cant power up four MR16 bulbs
I am using the Vans duel bulb 75 watt MR16 Halogen in each tip for my RV7. The problem is the Vertical Power VPX cant power up 4 bulbs at once coming from two circuits without faulting. It can do two bulbs, one per circuit. I'm disappointed with Vertical Power because of this limitation.

Is a Bill of Sale really needed?
When is the bill of sale needed? ....just for registration? If a kit RV7 is already registered and you have an N number, I don't think you need a bill of sale anymore unless you sell it again at which time you create a new BOS.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I looked at what duckworks sells. I like the idea of small powerful LED in the tips. Was disappointed with the mounting method. Sounds like you super glue a cylinder housing in place, check your aim then fiberglass it down permanent. Not much room for later adjustments. I'm moving back to my orignal...

Canopy Fairing for tipper
Anyone know if there are any after market canopy fairings for the forward transition on an RV7 tip up? I found this one for the slidder>>> http://www.docstoc.com/docs/91048710/RV7-a-and-RV9-a-FAIRING-(PDF) I'm kicking around the idea of manufacturing more than one if there is a demand. A fairing sho...

To rephrase: Has anyone used camloc fasteners (http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/ha/ ... amloc.html)
to attach the entire F771 skin? How did it turn out?

Avionics access upper skin F771
Anyone have a good reference to securing the upper skin F771 just aft of the fire wall on a 7a tip up for easy access to avionics? Two ports on top will likely be too small to reach the outboard sides. I'm thinking about 1/4 turn lock screws to attach the entire skin. Ideas?
