I'm doing ground school ASA DVD style and they talk about rear CG leading to a problem recovering from spins. That's why I asked. But what do you notice in the flight characteristics when loaded in the back? Or is it more of a "gut" feeling with heavier stick weight?

..... You just can't have enough weight on the nose in a RV-4....... What's your weight and balance like? How heavy of a person can you carry in the back, how much baggage before you start having trouble with your glide and flare? You are not the only one who has eluded to this. Rob (of http://www....

Let me qualify my response by saying I don't know. Really I DON'T, but to me it would make sense to have as cool as air as possible running over the cooler. That would mean an air duct, or getting it out of the hot air after it's flowed past your cylinders or exhaust stacks. In front would make sens...

When I visited Van's in August they had on display at the front desk an air/oil seperator. Not sure on the brand. You might give them a call and check what they recommend. I found the guys really helpful and friendly.

Are you getting any help with rebuild of the Aeronca? .... No not currently. I am hoping to find an A&P after I get the wing back on. The motor only has 212 hours after a major overhaul. Upgraded with 75hp pistons. The logs say new fabric in 1991, and hangared mostly, it seems in good shape. The pl...

Introducing.....the P factor------>

Hi all, http://www.flex.com/~lostsurf/Aeronca.jpg I wanted to introduce myself. My name is David and I am a student pilot with 15 hours in a Cessna 150 :oops: . I live in California in Southern Humboldt county near a class G airstrip called Shelter Cove. I got "hitched" on August 1st and received th...

Yes politics, which involves control ("you do me a favor and I will do you a favor"). I am "brand spanking new" to the aviation world, but the one thing I really like about the eaa crowd is that they seem to look out for "the little guy". In that money or influence is not the deciding factor to flyi...

I looked into it. The rocket guys use additional wing ribs (only 2 or3 more), shorten the wing a foot or so, one-piece skins on the leading edge of the wings. Increase the skin thickness on the fuse and tail (the biggest weakness for acro is the tail supposedly...), and new gear so the longer prop w...

Overhaul manual for IO320

Does anyone know a good place to get an overhaul and parts manual for the Lycoming IO-320? .... Any recommendations on who has the best prices on parts and gasket kits, or is Superior and Titan the place? |Later edit| I have been scrounging around and found some manuals on ebay, but none specificall...

I am on the fence about the 2 engines as well. Costwise, they are about the same. That is the only similarity. Can anyone tell me where to find information on the new Honda-Continental joint venture? When it is to be released and what the cost will be? I have an IO-320 for my project but being a fo...

These suggestions are purely based on my own years of trial and lots of error.
So what about just epoxy primer on the "stock" parts in our kits?
