contersinking wing spars
I understand some builders install the #8 nutplate under the spar flange so that it can be used as a guide to countersink the flange. It appears the CS cutting flutes will engage the flange before the #30 pilot engages the nut plate. Will this cause a problem? Also, should the flange be drilled for ...

Elevator horn bolt head interefence
I drilled the left and right elevator horn bolt holes using the center bearing as a guide. Everything aligned great. However, the hole in the left elevator horn is close enough to the elevator tube that the bolt head actually contacts the weld. It's so close, that there is almost no clearance betwee...

Rolling elevator leading edges
Preparing to roll elevator leading edges. It makes sense that the top skin would roll down and over on top of the bottom skin to easily shed water. However, the bottom skin is slightly longer that the top which would seem to indicate it is to be rolled over on top. Depending on which drawing you loo...

BENDING CONTROL SURFACE TRAILING EDGE
I'm Preparing to construct the 2 x 8 brake used to bend the rudder trailing edge on my RV8. I've heard some builders will use a hand seamer in addition to this since the 2 x 8 brake will not quite bend the edge as much as needed. anybody have any ideas on the best method to accurately accomplish thi...

It's basically a money vs. time issue. I can probalby opt for one QB kit, either the wings or fuselage. Since the QB wings go together quickly, building the fuelage will allow time for the funds to accumulate. Also, the fuselage may be more interesting to build, as opposed to the wings, which would ...

FUSELAGE KIT
I'm nearing completion of the empenage. Instead of waiting on funds to accumulate for a QB kit, I might as well be building while I wait, and save money to boot. Anyone able to give me a rough estimate number of hours for the time to complete the standard build fuselage kit?

Rudder stiffeners on RV8
I notice the rudder and elevator stiffeners are slightly curved out of the box, probably from the forming process. I am considering fluting the undrilled flange to straighten the drilled side. this will ensure the entire length of the stiffener will lay true against the rudder/elevator skin prior to...

NO HOLE YOKES
One more thing regarding squeezers. When considering a "no hole yoke", any reason to purchase the 4" instead of the 1"?

squeezers
Anybody have any experience with the economy squeezers that are clones of the tatco? I have the Avery squeezer and also use a friend's Tatco. Both are very nice. I need a 4" and a "no hole" yoke but am reluctant to lay out the big money for yokes required for the Avery squeezer. I'm considering purc...
