Your right, the tubes to make a big differance. But PRC has some Duct Tape like qualitys, you can fix alot of stuff with it, and and that is when you will need to mix up a small batch.

I know of a female builder in Southern Alberta. I think she was tired of sitting in the back seat of her husbands RV4, so she built her own RV9A. Did a very nice job, with a fantastic paint job.

Oh ya, Air tools are much cooler than electric. End of Story. 8)

ProSeal (or PRC) vs FlameMaster is a discussion that comes up at work very often. And flameMaster has been "Voted off the Island". Both products are similar, but we just seem to run into issues with Flame Master not setting up properly, or taking forever to set up. This may not be an issue for you i...

I hope I'm missing something when you guys say Pop rivets. :o There are real aircraft pull rivets called Cherry Max rivets. Yup, they come with an aircraft price tag, but they are actualy ment to hold a load. P/N CR3212 are Nominal sized and counter sunk. CR3242 are Oversized and counter sunk. Overs...

I was always told that circuit breakers and fuses are there to protect the wires, not the radio. Meaning that if the radio (or transponder, or trim servo, or what ever) goes for a dive and starts to draw 15 amps, accept the fact it's going to shop. But if that poor little 20 or 22 gauge wire under t...

Needle, ball and airspeed. Day VFR. Spent too much time North of 60 flying around in the soup to want to fly in anything but blue skies. Don't start me on Night flying.... Glass cockpits are great, but canopies are better.

Two cents worth?

I'm going to try this from memory, so I hope I'm not leading you too far astray. A capacitive system uses two plates, just like a regular capacitor. The fuel fills the gap between the two plates. Fuel conducts electricity better than air (the empty tank above the fuel). that sets up the di-electric ...

I've learned that when I get that feeling that all is going just peachy, is right about the same time I make some horrible mistake. So if I'm cursing and grumpy, then the work is going along well.

Wannabe

Yup, another one. By day, I fix helicopters (and the occasional airplane), but out side of that I hope to one day build an airplane. Most likely an RV. I've tried out a 4 and a 8A. I know of a 9A that I'm going to have to mooch a ride in some day. To those of you who haven't tried one, the "Grin" is...

Being one of those previously mentioned Aircraft mechanics, I have to agree with using alumiprep/alodine. A few suggestions about it's use: Don't leave the part in the alumiprep too long. If the part is starting to turn dark, that's too long. You're eating up metal at that point. Keep the part wet b...
