Hey Brian,

If you think that tower is bad, try climbing a radio transmission tower 130 ft tall and 3 ft across the base and 10 inches at the top! I used to do that when I was an engineer for a radio station in Washington State. Had to replace aircraft warning bulbs. Lots of fun! - - -NOT!!

Mike, I installed GRT's EIS 4000 and their Horizon I display unit when I built my 8 in 2004. I have been very happy with Sandy and the group. They have always been very helpful and are quick to answer any questions I had and, like you are finding out, stand behind their products. I am still getting ...

I used a 1/8 steel rod in the trailing edge to get the radius correct. It works great.

Good luck!

CJ, Great idea! Sieze the moment while you can. I had planned on taking a similar trip when I got out of the Navy, except on horse back through the rocky mountains of Colorado for the summer. But didn't get to do it because I was stupid and bought a new vehicle which I had to pay for. I have always ...

If you do use a fuse block, be sure to have it accessable from your pilot position as you may need to be changing fuses in flight and at that point it would not be fun to try to crawl under the panel! I went with the c/b's because I do not like to carry extra fuses and try to change them when I need...

Chad, You mentioned you were not using the expensive circuit breakers (pull type). I trust you are, at least, using fuses. They, or circuit breakers, are used to keep the smoke in the wiring. If you don't have the protection and let the smoke out, you will have a BIG problem!!

WS, No, It's not easy to make the bends for the 8 fuel lines. I have a tubing bender for 3/8 tubing and used that and it worked pretty well. Just a lot of trial and error. -- Sometimes heavy on the error!! :bang: I don't have any pictures of mine or I would send them. I guess I should have taken som...

Weez, If you can get on the airport board or get a manager position at the airport, then you can set the policies. The City of Spokane has an airport board and we, the local pilots, have a managed to get a local pilot on the airport board, and better than that, the new mayor is a pilot! Things are l...

I don't know. The "big cheese" seems to get along quite well flying around the country in the AOPA corporate jet. I guess that' where the money goes and why they continually want more. Back in 1999 when Boyer came to Spokane for a meeting with the "general aviation folks", I began a conversation wit...

Weez, I used to manage an airport here in Washington State, 3W7. The FAA does not regulate what you can and cannot do on the airport. It is the owner or airport manager who regulates what goes on at the airport. I would ask who ever is in charge to show me the FA regulation. I will guarentee you the...

Remember that the part of the rivit that extends past the material should be 1.5 X rivit diameter. more length than that, the rivit tends to bend over.

There have been several people bend their sticks to have better movement. I had to cut mine off to have room for my grip to clear the brace below the panel. I don't remember his name, but there was a guy on the Yahoo RV8 list that put "s" curves in sticks for the builders. You might want to check ov...
