Re: Planning a 2019 US tour. Anyone up for a visitor?

School lets out in June! Dang, I remember when I was a kid we started after Labor Day, finished before Memorial day and had 2 weeks at Christmas and spring break! I don't know my post-OSH plans for sure; I will probably be back in Indy to work some before I am out at the cabin again. I plan to spend...

Re: Planning a 2019 US tour. Anyone up for a visitor?

Hey CJ- We are planning a trip from Indy to the cabin, bunch of the airport guys (RV9, RV7, RV10, C-182 and maybe a forked tail bonanza guy) around June 12-19/20. How's your planning coming along? I will certainly be out there other times during the summer (except July, my off time that month is ded...

Re: Planning a 2019 US tour. Anyone up for a visitor?

CJ, you’re welcome here in Indy (KUMP) - good number of RV guys and nice airport, Ive got plenty of room. If my brother or I happen to be in CO at the cabin you should stop in. KAEJ, beautiful area right south of Leadville. We’ve got ATVs and all kinds of other fun stuff way off grid in the mountain...

CJ- Thanks for the offer; may take you up on it, but I'll be at the hangar doing an annual this weekend. I found the Ideal instructions online (same bender that I have) and it all makes sense. The issue I have is making a 1" offset in 1/2" EMT - the bends are so close together that making the second...

Bending conduit

All- Sorta RV related, as it pertains to the shop. I've hung fluorescents in the new shop, all connected by 1/2" EMT. Am now looking to hang some ceiling fans to move the warm air down - ceilings are 10'. This requires conduit crossing over conduit. Any good tips on making a 3 point bend to cross ov...

I agree with you guys. This site seems more friendly and welcoming ... If you are not part of the "in" crowd over there, well... Plus, there is too much "mine mine mine" regarding the site. It is a good resource with lotsa information, but the vibe is not the same. I wonder how long the long arm of ...

Bruce Tom didn't mean to hijack the thread. Not at all. I've been pondering when to paint, too. Also trying to decide what to use... I saw pictures of someone who did the interior in the AKZO primer. That's what I've used on some inside parts, and it is super tough. Would be kind of a military look...

Thanks guys! Dad came over today and helped me finish painting the new shop ... next to hang the lights and then hopefully back to working on the -8. Getting to the tough part ... the decision part, where there aren't instructions and plans to help me along. Pretty sure I'm gonna go with an IO-375 a...

Getting back in

Well, somehow the months strung together and I've now put in almost 4 years away from the -8 project. Job got busy, got married, moved ... now finally settling in and getting the new shop set up.

So, back at it ... will be hitting you guys up for advice!

Remember that there are 2 kinds of 'scopes. One for down your throat and the other one for the breezeway. The only way to tell the difference is by taste! :o CJ Oh, boy ... I came across this while returning to the site after a hiatus from the build. LOL - this is the most recently updated thread. ...

Awesome!! Congrats... Coincidentally, I had a good first flight today, too. Not the wife, but I took Claire, my girlfriend, up for her first flight in a small plane and she was all smiles the whole time. A perfect VFR day here in IN, it was sunny so there were some bumps but she enjoyed the whole tr...

Used the take a piece of 2x4 drill a hole in it and split it with a band saw to about 1" past the hole method. Then clamped the split end with a c-clamp. This held the bushing just fine. I used the 1/4" drill bit and that worked just fine. I just kept working the bit up and down to clear out the po...

You do trim the skin. I had to cut mine the same as yours.

I think it is noted somewhere in the plans but I am not in the shop right now.

edit: here it is mentioned on Brad's site:

Yeah, it happens. I think the consensus is that Van's will err on the short side if the length is between two rivet sizes ... that way us amateurs won't tip the shop head over and mess it up. I just check the rivets before bucking and used whatever size was best. The callouts on the plan were a roug...

Good timing, I guess. Just surfing while watching this rainy monday night game.

Group buy update??????

I was surfing over on the other site and saw the post with the above tag line ... CJ had reply #2, but when I clicked on it there was nothing ... gone ... ?

A few minutes later, there is a new reply.

Did you get censored, CJ ? :? :?

Just wondering ...
