I think Van would be crazy not to tap into the potential of the Sport Pilot option. But there is a good point that was made here about Vans spreading his business too thin. So here is my take. I think he has done the initial marketplace survey and thinks there is a sufficient demand. They should dev...

RV5?

Anyone hear about a potential LSA from Vans? Saw a web page recently where they talked about upcoming issues of the RVator highlighting the development of this.

Retractable gear RV

There was an article last summer in one of the kit plane type magazines that featured a builder in Germany who modified his RV4 to have retractable gear.

Anyone else see that? Which magazine was it and what are your thoughts on attempting such a radical modification?

Check it out....IO-540 on an RV7. This is a very nice site. I read the thread about the Super 8, but this is the first time I've seen this.

I bet this thing will be FAST

Microair Combo

I was looking through the Aircraft Spruce web page this evening and thought this looked like a decent combination. Lightweight, integrated, and reasonably priced. I am planning a VFR only equipped RV. Works Combo Kit (11-02867) T2000 Transponder, M760 VHF Transceiver, Ted Antenna, 4-Place Vox Interc...

Site Comments

I think the site is fantastic! Excellent work, and I hope it continues to grow. I check in here several times a week....and I'm not even building yet  I hadn't thought of it before, but maybe there are a few too many forums. Just off the top of my head how about this structure for major topics...

Reaming vs Drilling

I was recently out surfing sites and found a builder talking about "reaming" the prepunched holes as opposed to drilling them.

Is this just a different bit? Or is it different method of drilling?

Thanks

Vans Skunkworks

Now that Vans has the RV10 as its newest addition, anyone care to speculate as to what sort of kit we might see next from Vans? A new model entirely or just some improvements to the existing ones? I think he was working on a sail plane over this past year but I dont see anything about it on the web ...

Emp building program

One of the RV-7 links on Vans page contains a pretty good review of that builders experience with that program. If I recall correctly, he was glad he did it.

Let me see if I can find the correct link to it.

RV-7 "Lite" ?

As I read the posts on the topic of 9 vs 7 it seems that many lower time pilots opt for the 9 since it better suits their skills. That leads me to ask this. Is there a way to build the RV-7 to make it more suitable for a pilot with fewer hours? I am thinking about something like a lower HP engine pe...

Still Dreaming

Great site. Like other posts, I agree that this format is a bit more user friendly than others I have been on. I am still absorbing all of this RV stuff. Although I have flown in a beautiful RV-6A (Paul Stratman), and went to Oshkosh this past year, I have yet to get the PPL. I visited the workshop ...
