Thanks guys, got the wood to construct it. Plan on picking up the plane this weekend. Or at least the first load, depending on how I can pack it safely on a trailer. I can always count on y'all to put their 2cp in and I appriciate it.

Cheers,

I found a article and instructions on a wing cradle by Tony Bingelis (EAA Builders web site). Looks like it would work fine. Only question is, the plans for the one suggested calls for a total length of about 5 ft and a width of 3 ft.

Do you think this is adequate as far as size?

Wing Cradle Plans or Dimensions

Does anyone have plans or dimensions for a wing cradle? I know I have seen pictures of some (possibly in the background) and I need some to transport the wings of my Aeronca 7AC. I want to build some that will also hold a set of RV wings so I was curious as to what worked for y'all. I have a general...

Well, the third wheel decision may have had a major influencing factor today. As a FYI, my wife and I purchased a 1946 Aeronca Champ (7AC) today. It is a project plane, but it is almost back to the recovering stage. Included was: New wood kit (installed) New windshield Complete new interior 2 sets o...

First, It must be your mind. I can see how you took it that way. My fault on the phraseology (but I do have to agree with the way you took it). Sorry about that Spike, In this instance, NO PUN INTENDED.....(or is that pun intended?) oh well.... Hey Capt. I still working on my ticket, so by the time ...

7 vs 9 Tail Kit

Hey all, Quick question... Does the RV 7 and the RV 9 use the same tail kit or are there subtle differences? There is a 7 tail kit for sale near me that may be had real reasonable plus no shipping. I don't think anything has been done with it besides initial inventory of parts. A friends A & P (with...

Just working on my ticket now. About 20 hours logged (one of the main reasons I looking at the 9. I do have some very limited "unofficial" time in a Cub and a Luscombe. Before I get to the choice of the third wheel, I am going to have my license and maybe work on my tailwheel endorsement. I still lo...

Think Santa is bringing me a tail kit (my wife said I might get some tail at X-Mas, I think she was talking about airplanes). Gues...

That helps, LoL.... Decision almost made. Gonna try to bum a ride in a 9 if I can find one in the area. Want to see what ground handeling is like. Only trike I have experienced is a sweet 7A here Austin. But got awhile before decision has to be finalized. Like I said, been lurking for about a year. ...

Not too intimidated but sure I will freak at the plans. http://www.vintageaviation.org/aircraft/fokkerDRI/updates/050205.html In the link above, I am helping to reconstruct some wings on a (full scale) DRI Tri-plane. That is me wearing the AOPA cap. Also in the Photo are the mid and lower wings. I l...

Preview Plans

Been lurking but still here. About to order (RV 9):

1. Info Pack

2. DVD

3. Preview Plans

Is there anything else at an early stage that I would benefit from ordering?

EAA SportAir Workshop

I posted here after searching the forum and noticed the reference to the EAA SportAir Workshop. PA is a long way from Austin Tx, and when I decide on the RV I plan to build after completing my training, I may look into attending something like Tom Emery's Workshop. For the time being, has anyone att...

Need Info; Updates

Bill How is the build going? Do you have a website showcasing your craftmanship? My wife and I are seriously considering the RV 10 over the 9 (need the 9, want the 10 cause of 2 vs 4 place). After sitting in the 10 at the EAA SWRFI in Hondo Texas, we fell in love with the cavernous room in the front...
