This document shows the basic differences between different Lycoming engine models: http://www.lycoming.com/support/troubleshooting/resources/SSP204.pdf but really all you need to do, is get hold of an IO-360-A1A, A1B, A1B6, A1B6D or A3B6D sump and intake pipes and swap them out for what you have an...

This 200 HP engine should fit with a minor modification. You should convert it to an A1B6 sump configuration. The C1D6 points the fuel injection servo out the back of the engine and you need it pointing out of the front of the engine. The prop governor will mount at the front of the engine on a C1D6...

TMX Engine Assembly Worshop

In the past we have sponsored many TMX Engine Assembly Workshops here at Mattituck Airport (21N) in New York. Many in the group have requested to be kept informed of the date for the next one, so they could make plans to attend. We have scheduled the next workshop for Saturday January 17, 2009. The ...

Re: Slick vs. Bendix Magnetos

Should I put an impulse coupling on> Mag top or bottom? Auto plugs or finewire? Anything I missed? :? CJ I would use an impulse mag if going 1/2 EI and 1/2 mag. EI fires the top plugs and the mag fires the bottom. Auto plugs on the EI is fine and fine wires on the mag are the best, but massive elec...

On my Mattituck TMX-360 engine, they put one Lightspeed ignition and one impulse coupled mag. They recommend that the engine be started with the mag on and elect ignition off, something to do with the starter drawing the battery voltage down to a level that the electronic ignition might misfire, ca...

Tom, Thanks! Chad, I saw that info on the Unison website. I couldn't tell if the Slickstart could be used with the LASAR system or if isn't advised? I think I have questions for my questions at this point! :bang: CJ Slick Start is not necessary with LASAR ignition. Good Luck, Mahlon “The opinions a...

Later Lycoming powered 200 HP Arrow's used the C1C6 while earlier Lycoming powered 200 HP arrows used the C1C. With a sump and intake pipe swap out to the forward facing variety….. viola you have an A1B6 from a C1C6 or an A1A from a C1C. Good Luck, Mahlon "The opinions and information provided in th...

The vernatherm will try to maintain 185F oil temp as long as the cooler has enough cooling capacity for the heat being generated. The reason most go to the bigger cooler, is that the oil cooling capacity of the smaller ones, is marginal for the amount of heat the engine can make during high ambient ...

Compression ratio on the TMXIO-390 is 8.9:1. We don't endorse the use of 91 octane MoGas on TMX engines with compression ratios above 8.5:1. The fuel injection systems used on the TMX series of engine are compatible with MoGas. Good Luck, Mahlon "The opinions and information provided in this and all...

mahlon, are the plugs for the IO 320 B1A still available? I don't think the plug used in the IO-320 is thick enough to tap. There are other style plugs( 1.25 od) used in other crankshafts that have the 1/8 npt hole in them but the IO-320 (1.75od plug) isn't configured that way and can't accept that 1.25 OD plug. From an engine perspective redundant electric supply is not necessary if equipped with PMAGS. They have the ability to provide their own power to generate ignition if you should loose the aircraft's electric source. On the other hand, if using two EMAGS then back up electric source is necessary as t...
