Well guess what?! I wrote Sporty's and explained what my puppy did to the package they sent me. I honestly didn't expect anything to come of it, I mean come on, it was my dog that did the chewing. Much to my surprise, I got an email this morning telling me that they were sorry that it had happened a...

Last night I finally got the nighttime XC in to Hartford. I nailed the landings this time out. I've got a feeling that the near full moon helped me out some.

Nothing left but to take a practice checkride with my instructor before he signs me off for the real thing.

Congrats on the engine hanging. I can't even begin to imagine getting to that stage. Me? I spent the Saturday walking around in a corn maze . And since yesterday was our 11th anniversary I went out to dinner with the Mrs. A good chunk of that slush fund I was talking about got spent, but it was a go...

You know that my first flight after getting my ticket will be to Hanger #5! I've got the money set aside already for the checkride so that isn't an issue. I Do think you've all nailed it, and confirmed my thoughts. Even though I want the new toys I should spend the cash on the infrastructure. I'll j...

three options (looking for opinions/suggestions)

This is a thinking out loud type of thread. Feel free to add your .02. Between Birthday money, ash tray change, and a little farm supplied windfall. I have a little bit more than 500$ in one of my slush funds that isn't earmarked for anything yet. As I close in on my pilot's cert. I have started pon...

Night Flight was cool. Landing at night kicked my butt!! It's like I'm learning to land all over again. I may only need 10 landings and three hours of night flight to satisfy my requirements, but I believe it will take a few more hours of dual before I'm comfortable enough to go it solo. On the brig...

Another XC is in the books. This time I had to fly into Nashua and Westover, two class D airports. Anyone who has been near me in the past two weeks knows how much I've agonized over the communication portion of my flying. It turns out, it's not as bad as I had made it out to be. Both controllers we...

I am heading to ORE in the AM. Of course that is assuming that the 172 I'm supposed to fly got repaired. It was taken off the line Tuesday for a suspected sticky valve.

I'll ask my instructor if I can stop and grab a bite while I'm up there.
