Thank You

I'll get the book and read it. This last query was not about a heavy wing but it all probably goes together. The elevators on this plane are also misaligned to each other, much more than pounding or sqeezing a trailing edge will fix. However, I'd like to think I can fix the things that are wrong and...

Elevator (Horn) Alignment

Another forum currently has a thread about alignment of the elevator horns (& elevators) when drilling the bolt hole for the pushrod. I'd like to know the overall affect on the flight characteristics of the plane if the elevators end up being mis-aligned; say up to an inch or more at the trailing ed...

"heavy"

Probably a combination of both. I know the plane is heavy according to the averages I've seen. It is approx 1120 lbs empty. I have been working to get weight out of it but there is a limited amount I can do here. I can't easily go back and create lightening holes and it appears some amount of extra ...

RV-6A "Rigging"

As I am an older pilot, my approach to my return to flying (flew when I was much younger) was to buy a flying RV-6A to gain experience while I worked on deciding what I wanted to build, and to have something to fly while building. For this older RV-6A I have been slowly fixing it up & rebuiding some...

14,723'

Went to 14,723' yesterday, still climbing when I noticed an O2 system problem; so went back down to try again another day.

Forward

Yes, I agree and that's the way I put mine. But I have seen several of them reversed and just want to make sure there are no hidden "lessons learned" lurking somewhere.

Nose wheel "stops" plate

Guess I'll ask this question here also. The other group seems too busy. ----------------- In a different thread, a photo shows the nosegear swivel stop plate WD-631 mounted with the "stops" portion mounted to the rear. The Van's drawing I have (for the older gear leg and fork), DWG C1, shows the pla...

I guess I'll just ask straight out, rather than indirectly: I'd like to know more about a few things: 1. Display - The type, mfg, model of the display being used in the current EFIS products. I know that Sharp is a big vendor of these type displays. The sunlight readable ones seem to have brightness...

Re: SV_ Translucentcy....

I don't think it was Google. They just allow overlays. Here is where I got the airspace, SUA, and sectional overlays. http://www.fboweb.com/antest/ge/intro.aspx Here is a sample. This is Denver class B. The colored ribbons are GPS flight data showing me flying beneath and around the airspace while e...

Re: translucent airspace objects...

They are 3D translucent polygon overlays for Google Earth. The polygons show the various US airspaces in 3D along with SUA areas in 3D; probably from the same source data as you use. I use them to critique flights by taking my GPS track data in 3D into Google Earth showing it along with all the othe...

Thanks

THANKS! Lots of very good information. And it is exciting.

Is the air space program where the translucent air space objects came from for Google Earth?

Nah! That doesn't work either. Moving the nose wheel just moves the problem to a new location.

Put the nosewheel behind the mains!

Me too.

I guess I'll "me too" my own post as what I was originally thinking was EFIS, EIS stuff; but the synthetic vision stuff sounds really interesting.

Afterall, this IS the experimental class, and doesn't have to be just rivets, composites, and aluminum. :)

Experimental Class

Anyone else experimenting with their own multifunction displays, EFIS, EIS, ?? For some reason, I'd like to do some on my own and am curious if others are also. I understand that some of the current experimental glass products had their origin in this area.

Low Fuel Pressure & Older Van's supplied gascolators

My apologies if this is hidden in plain view; but I've searched in many places. In the threads of low fuel pressure under various conditions (O320, carbreted, mech. fuel pump): I recall reading one comment that the older Vans supplied gascolators might be the problem, allowing air entry under certai...

EFIS Display Panel Mfgrs.

Thanks Dan, but was asking about the manuf. of the displays, such as Sharp Electronics, etc. I want to "experiment" with a few ideas of my own.

EFIS Displays

Does anyone have any information on the manufacturer/brand of displays used in the "sun light readable" EFIS panels? I am interested in something in the 5-8" range with a brightness of greater than 1000 nits.
