Great idea. If you have any left, I could use one.

This thread was very valuable -- again -- this weekend when I pulled the partially-completed harness out of the rubble of my hangar and started working on it again. As usual, nothing comes easy, and I see the instructions make reference to a "polarizing key" that is supplied with this connector. So,...

Hey, ask Patti if she lost some lipstick in my car.

It's been a little difficult to explain that one to the Mrs.

Was never able to find the rightful owner of the mug. So it's gone into the freezer, next to the New England Patriots mug.

Oshkosh Lost and Found

Someone left a really nice beer mug at the Piece of Grass 2009 on Wednesday night. This is the one they give you for flying a plane into Oshkosh, so I imagine this was a real keepsake for someone. If it's yours, please get in touch with me and I'll ship it to you. Also, someone left a pair of clip-o...

You should see some of the equipment that comes in. It's like a moon landing. The RV comes to a halt...the automatic satellite dish goes up....the living room -- motorized -- comes out of the side... Whirrrr.....etc. You go a whole week and never actually see the people except when they grab the fou...

If there's one thing that ruins AirVenture for me, it's the guy in the RV who gets up in the morning, starts up the generator, then goes back inside and runs the AC, keeps the windows closed and watches TV. And then it drones on until 10pm. The good news is that it's been cool and comfortable in the...

Oshkosh: Piece of Grass 2009

Wednesday July 29, 2009 AirVenture 6 p.m. The era of the big RVers BBQ at Oshkosh is over, let the return-to-basics begin! We'll get together for an evening of sitting around doing nothing, not picking door prizes, not cooking, not sitting under a tent, not drinking someone else's free beer. In othe...

Now that I've gotten getting the radio into the mounting tray figured out -- duh! -- does anyone have a few pictures of the passthrough of the radio through the subpanel. Did you reinforce with angle on all sides of that cutout or just the sides? And how did you anchor the radio stack there, it look...

Checkoway site gone

Adios, rvproject.com . Not sure why Dan decided to get rid of his site but it's gone, presumably forever.

Good substitute, though, if youre' looking is the Dignity project in the UK. Really great site.

Team RV photos

I put out a Hotline today and one link in it is getting missed by most readers. I put a little slideshow together of Team RV in action this week in South Carolina with photos provided by Don Neuberg, who is a really great photog who loves RVs. I toyed with the music -- most of the time you hear some...

By golly, I hadn't thought of that, Chad. I think I'm pretty much located in the panel as you have it, so that rib should work fine. Many thanks.

Unless the two are somehow connected -- are they -- the locking mechanism's not clear the chassis is secondary to the radio not fitting into the mounting bracket all the way. I don't see how it can get in any farther since the tip of it is hitting the lip on the radio.

It's a conundrum to be sure.

No, I mark the cutlines and measure them out with ruler and Sharpie. Then I put the painters tape along it to guide me. But I file to the Sharpie mark. And I use the tape to protect around the cut. I mark out the openings, add the tape along the lines, drill four holes well off each corner, enlarge ...

ICOM A210 mounting bracket

I'm perplexed, of course, in trying to install the ICOM A210 radio. I'm trying to get the radio tray fitted to the instrument panel. Problem is: I can't get the radio to seat properly into the mounting bracket -- I'm left with about 1/4" to go. The top of the mounting bracket, hits this here "lip" o...

I found a 2005 version online and noticed it said the rear of the 327 should be supported. I'm not at the hangar so I can't check this but I don't believe the 327 comes close to the subpanel. How are folks supporting the rear of the transponder?

Panel cutting - the radio stack

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_nw6qmkwwuYE/SgIcrJIzIYI/AAAAAAAAB6k/Wfp_n7njWcU/s400/panel_may_6_09.jpg I'm cutting out my instrument panel by hand and I'm on the radio stack now. Question. Underneath the hole for the A210, which I've got, I want to cut one for a Garmin 327 transponder. What is the recom...
