New IO360 Engine Questions
I recently got my 7-A flying and am sorting out all the odd details. My oil temperature is slow to come up and I'm wondering what the minimum temp should be before I takeoff. Also, at cruise my #4 CHT runs 125 degrees cooler that cyls 1, 2 & 3. Is this a serious problem. If so, what do I do about it...

Fuel Tank Foat Sensor Removal
I finished my plane, filled the tanks with fuel and fired it up. All is good except I'm not getting any "reading" from my fuel tank sensors. Checked both sides with an Ohm meter and I get about 247 ohms.......with no change whether the tanks are full or empty. The local experts think I may have inst...

The arguement is that the second "crewmember" is required in order to conduct the flight test program. The Captain (me) flys the plane, while the second officer records the times, speeds, performance characteristics, etc. One cannot be expected to fly the plane and record performance data at the sam...

Thanks to all who replied. I have found a local guy..........a CFI who built an RV-6. We're scheduled for this coming Wednesday for first flight (he'll fly it). Then comes the sticky part. Since he has sold his 6, he'll have to do the training in my 7A. If the FAA gets nosey we'll have to say that h...

Transition Training
My RV-7A is ready for first flight.............but I'm not. I need some transition training and perhaps a first flight test pilot. I'm having a tough time finding someone to do the transition training for me, and I even asked for help at the Vans booth at Sun N'Fun today but they were no help. Any i...

Headset Jack Location
I'm curious as to where most folks are installing their headset jacks. Many photos I've looked at show the jacks on the lower left and right corners of their panels. To me, this means the cords will be running across my thighs and possibly interfering with the control stick. Any bright ideas for alt...

Angle valve vs parallel valve engine
Wow, is this a great forum or what!!!!!!!! As a newcommer I'm totally impressed with the helpful responses to my posting about a 200 HP IO 360 with a fixed pitch prop. Y'all have almost got me convinced to go with the "180" parallel valve engine, which you say can produce up to 195 HP with fuel inje...

Fixed PItch 200 HP IO 360?
I am brand new to this forum and will be purchasing an RV 7A partially completed kit from another builder. In thinking about what engine I want to hang on the front, my thoughts are leaning toward a 200 HP IO 360, but have no need (at least I don't think so) for a CS prop. From I can determine from ...
