Anodising

For my -8 I made some rudder pedal extensions and then had all the parts anodised blue before I rivetted them together. I'm pleased with how they came out and just wonder how the anodising will last. I've had anodised footpegs on motorcycles before and they've lasted ok, so I'm pretty hopeful. Pic f...

John Tipton, we are not lucky. You are SCREWED! Besides, if anyone is lucky, it is you! You are lucky that your country is so small (a little larger than Wisconsin as I recall). People there don't have 100 mile daily commutes. You also have a much more complete public transportation system. Ooo, CJ...

I have a TC one!

I have the Tom Clark 'kit' and I can tell you now that all you get from Tom is four bulkhead tops and some instructions. The bulkhead tops are not pre-drilled, and you need to supply your own top skin (cut from sheet) and canopy. I have a Todd canopy. You will also need to either make a canopy frame...

wotsit?

Hey Dave,

Hope you had a great vacation.
What are those on the left of your panel? Pic is a little small and I'm not familiar with the equipment to know. Looks like PMA9000EX at top and GTX-327 down below, but what is in between? (nav and/or comms, obviously, but which?)

Be careful with epanelbuilder. I found that the RV-8 panel it uses is not correct. It seems to be taller than the real panel and things that fit in epanelbuilder will not fit in reality. That's what I thought! I thought I was going nuts! I keep moving the cutouts around and trying different layouts...

I can't really say for sure, but I just prefer the two screen setup. I've also considered using the dual EFIS/EMS with second EFIS. This would allow me to run EFIS either way if one of the screens goes kaput and I could theoretically lose the guages. I also like the idea of me mechanical guage backu...

Dual AF3400s in RV-8 panel

Okay, so I copied the post from the 'other' place and I'm hoping it will appear ok (it did, with a little editing). Here's a link to the, ahem, original thread if you need the history. http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=26609 Basically, I'd like two AF3400s in my RV-8 panel and w...

Gear tower mods - do it

I also went with the plans on the gear tower mods; right up until I started working on the final riveting and screws and whatnot; then I retro-fitted the mod! It is *awkward* working in there! Especially on the left side where the fuel pipes are.

Flight instruments

I know a lot of people are going glass (myself included) but I'm still have a few key gauges as backups. 2¼" airspeed & altimeter at least, maybe then also vsi and electric AH. Not sure.

Grove gear alignment

Hi Dave,

I've PDF'd this webpage entry for when I come to do mine. Please give us an update as you progress, especially once you get the wheels on and the aircraft sitting on the gear.

Thanks for the post.
