Preparing those ribs is a big and tedious job (unless you're not particularly particular). By the time you're up to the 50th one you may want to give up airplane building altogether! So I think starting them right away is a fine idea, do a little at a time, and when you need a little break, go do so...

Discrepancy in the plans!

Both my preview plans and large plans seem to be identical for this page (DWG 27A). Both are "Rev 2", noted in the lower-right. In fact, in the lower right, it lists what they changed for each revision, and in the Rev 1 section it says, "Zone E8: 13/16 was 1 1/4." I imagine the B and D size drawings...

When comparing the preview plans with the full-size plans, are you checking that they are of the same revision level? In my case, DWG 27A is the same. Both say, "R2." And in the lower right, they list the changes made with each revision, including: "Rev 1: Zone E8: 13/16 was 1 1/4" Whenever I study ...

WANTED: Experienced aircraft electrician

No objective data or statistics, just hearsay and speculation. I did hear just a few days ago about a RV10 that when down near Cincinnati due to smoke in the cockpit. I suspect an amateur wire job. Heard this happening before. I think that RV10 fire you're talking about was caused by a loose fuel l...

Yep. I've seen him every time I've gone to Van's to pick up the next major kit in my project. Pretty amazing watching him work! I've also been very impressed with my inventory results (emp, wing, and fuselage so far, RV-7A). I think the only discrepancy I've found is, in the wing kit, one of the lit...

Even when applying a force on the gun?

Mine does this as well but NOT if I'm applying any force on the plunger (set). In other words, if I hold the gun (rivet set) firmly even against a block of wood (or a rivet I'm about to set), and gently squeeze the trigger, it'll operate as expected. It only leaks air and gets "jammed" as you descri...

I hear ya. I used a screw itself, but the dimple was not nearly as clean and "crisp" as one made with a dimple die, so I ended up breaking down and buying one. No regrets. [Edit] To elaborate, I countersunk a hole into a piece of wood (hardwood might have been better), and used a screw and a mallet ...
