I do pretty good on locating the bends but has anyone got a good way to get the tube nice and straight after you unroll it. Some guys lines look like they are straight as an arrow between the bends which make them look great, but I can't seem to get them that way. :bang: One of the tricks from the ...

B17 experience

I wrote up a field trip report of my time helping with the EAA B17 tour stop this past Saturday up in Ogden. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It's a 9mb doc with lots of pictures. Check it out at

depending on your level of tool obsession, you may want to skip the sears torque wrench. I've been lusting over a snapon digital torque wrench for a long while, but they're INSANELY expensive. I'd never even used a torque wrench before starting my kit, so I don't know what I missed, because I bough...

We're actually driving back West on Monday. Could have possibly stretched it to Monday night - Tuesday would have been a battle, but definitely can't make Thursday. I'll see you folks in '09. :)

I can make Wednesday work, but we need to know quickly, before rooms between Oshkosh and Kenosha disappear.

RB Airventure Dinner

I'm going to be in the Chicago area the week prior to AirVenture and have convinced my wife that we need to drive up to AirVenture for one day and then catch the RBer dinner.

Any solid plan for this year? Date/time/place? Black Otter again?

Right. Rule of thumb... if the bolt rotates or the thing touching the bolt rotates, then you need to use a drilled shank bolt, castle nut, and cotter pin.

I fully support them and think that they are worth the dues money. I agree, and it's why I am writing ANOTHER check to the AOPA PAC today. They may not fly experimentals, but they are there in DC fighting for us. I agree as well. We don't have a lot of voice with just EAA alone. AOPA does represent...

In my Skylane, I had both a GTX-330 hooked to the my GNS-530 for TIS traffic, and a Monroy ATD-300. Having both was fantastic. I plan to do the same in the Bearhawk.

It's heeeeeere!

My Bearhawk QB Fuse kit arrived on Saturday. Awaiting one more delivery from Wicks (should be in mid-week), and then I can get started. Check out my shop cam link below for my builder site. Photos of the kit arrival are in the "Build Log" link on the site.

PSYCHED! :D

IMO, that's a serious separation incident. I would suggest you file ye ol' NASA 'incident' form just so that it gets logged. Obviously not your fault, but it's an event definitely worthy of being counted.

...the people that paid cash/cheque directly are so out of luck, glad you had gone a 'better' payment route. Definitely learned a lesson, and glad that I was on the good side of it. :) Never EVER book flights with cash or check, and if the flight is expensive, always get the insurance. You never kn...

With the aux tanks + main tanks at 68 gallons usable, I'd need another ~130 gallons. However, I'd be about 200# over gross. Plus, the flight with no winds would be around 16 hours. No thanks. :)

We are getting a refund on the whole deal. This is a prime example where travel insurance really paid off (for the house we were renting). Chase (the credit card we used) is being very understanding and is crediting back every penny spent on airfare. :) It's too late to salvage a vacation at this po...

Higher power intervention?

In February I planned a very extravagant vacation for my family. I decided to take my two adult daughters (including my youngest’s husband and children) to Hawaii with my wife and I. We had a couple return legs on Aloha Airlines. Most everything else was on ATA. Due to the Aloha shutdown, I was on...

Grove or Cleveland?

As my tagline reads, I'm building a Bearhawk. FINALLY, my QB Fuse kit will be arriving in a few weeks (my delay, not AviPro's. :bang: ). Anyway, curious if anyone cares to share an opinion about Grove versus Cleveland brakes/wheels. My first task is to put the fuse up on the gear, and already I'm at...
