I'm 3/4 done on my 2nd condition inspection. The only squawks were a burnt out landing light, and the aileron trim indication on the EFIS would bounce around intermittently from side to side. (changed the bulb, and found one of the trim relay wires that sends the position to the EFIS was only attach...

Scott, Van's design has the potential to snag/catch on something and rip the tail apart when it does because of how low the fork situated in relationship to the axle/wheel. I know of two stories where this happened. The Bell is designed with an elevated/angled fork so that it allows the wheel to run...

Rob, the Airflow pump and filter comes with everything you need to assemble it. At least mine did when I ordered it from Van's. Once assembled you just need to plumb the aluminum line going to it and the other out of it to the firewall, and then just a two wire electrical connection to it. It comes ...

Wicked Stick......please help!!!!! :) :) I have the Andair fuel selector and the Air Flow Performance boost pump and filter. They have both worked flawlessly for me and the installation was pretty straight forward. A shame that Andair's boost pump has run into some issues with that o-ring coming lo...

I worried about this when I built my ailerons and flaps and got them to about where yours are. I chose to leave them as yours are now and fly it first to see. Long story short... After taking the time to precisely set the wing incidence and sweep, and carefully rigging the ailerons and flaps, the pl...

How long are you waiting before you do the scratch test ? In colder weather, the primer may not be fully cured enough to be scratch resistant even though it feels dry to the touch. It really needs like 24 to 48 hours in a 60 plus temp zone to fully cure. If that doesn't work, try a self etching prim...

What type of drill speed/rpm are you drilling at?
Slow the rpm way down and cleaning the bit if it clogs is key.

I used two standar flip style switches for turning my P-mags on and off. I then use one of the buttons on my infiniti stick to start the plane.

I put in an additional switch to activate and deactivate the stick switch so that I don't hit it by mistake once it's running.

Dont' forget to add in a relay so your not pre-maturely wearing out the rocker switch if your lights are drawing lots of amps.

I guess it would depend on whether or not you are planning to use regular mags or an electronic ignition system later on. Most regular mag setups use one std mag and one with an Impulse Coupling. With that setup, you want to have it so you are only starting on the Impulse coupled mag first, then onc...

Now there's one part that seems kind of an odd way to mount them.
So glad my 8 has the Grove gear. Nothing to fair and no external brake lines to worry about.

Here's one I found on Nantucket this past weekend.
I meant to purchase a 6 pack before leaving, but forgot.
Guess I'll have to go back there soon to get some.
