One of these days I am going to add a better section on application with pictures.

CJ,

Remember that in this heat and humidity ProSeal will cure faster so you should adjust your quantities accordingly.

Bob, You do not need to reduce the presure you run the squeezer at for smaller rivets. I would use 90-100 psi if your compressor will deliver that. You need to adjust the spacing of the dies to squeeze the proper amount for each rivet length. Tis is done either by adding washers to the set holder or...

Probably .032, I don't remember. I bent it around the wooden wedge I used to bend the tabs on the trim tab. I made it a little longer than necessary and then cut it off at the end to match the desired size.

I had no problem bending the tabs on the trim tab using the wedge that Van's calls for. I cut it to the exact size needed and used double stick tape to secure it in the tab so it wouldn't slip. It came out fine. The tab in the elevator was another story. After a couple of tries I gave up and cut the...

Just go with RTV. It is cheap and you can get it at any auto supply store. I think a tube will do both the rudder and elevators. Make sure it is non-corrosive. It will probably say "safe for sensors" on the tube. You just need a small blob on the end of each stiffener.

I put flop tubes in both tanks. I hate asymmetrical things so I do both sides the same. I figure it gives me the option of putting in inverted oil in the future, if I do much inverted flight. I figure it is easy to put in standard pickups in the future, but not flop tubes,l so I opted for flop tubes...

John,

You should be ok as long as you can adjust the angle of the bracket on the outboard end to adjust for any twist. Make sure that everything is very strong and can't change. I have pictures of mine but can't post them here as I don't have them on a web site.

Wing Jig

John, When building your wing jig, you need to remember that you have to be able to adjust the angle of the support at one end in order to remove any twist in the wing. You will need to be able to do this independently for each wing so it will need to be done at the 2 post end in your configuration....

Proseal Tubes

I think the Semco guns are a good way to go, but there are a couple of things you need to consider. The tubes of sealant that Van's sells have a 1/2 hour work time as opposed to the 2 hour work time of the bulk sealant. This may not be enough time to complete the work. Also the 6 oz. tube only conta...

Riveting

When considering whether to remove an overdriven or too short rivet, you also need to consider what damage you might cause to the rivet hole. In many case you may be better off leaving a rivet that does not meet the specs rather than drill it out and risk messing up the hole. A new rivet in an overs...

Van's Rivet Lengths

iIn a number of locations, Van's purposely undersizes the rivet lengths, where the "correct" length falls in between 2 standard sizes. They do this because they feel that inexperienced riveters tend to bend the longer rivets, which they would then try to remove and redo. They feel that an underlengt...
