For th...

i dont recall any problems except that my aft most, bottom piece was splayed out quite a bit and i took it to a bending brake and made the sides go straight up.

I remember a few rivets that split when bucked, but I'd say it's more a random defective rivet than age. ive had this happen a few times. the rivet would split on a line 10-20 deg or so from the length wise axis. it was usually cold in my shop however, but it was likely caused by a side loaded die....

john i know sometime they seem like they just dont want to shoot right but the problem can usually be traced back to operator error. i have rivets that are left over from from army surplus that were probally 20 years old when i got them. i have had them for 19 years myself and they will shoot perfec...

i was similarly shocked. i came from working on helis and everything has a secondary safety. i am still trying to implement safties on my 7. But honestly, this is the only case ive heard of and on top of that it wasnt even saftied in a primary way, much less a cotter pin. reading dynons post on VAF ...

You see from the original post, the screw came out and could have cost the man his life. If I were building an aircraft for myself or someone else, damm straight I would shitcan those nylock nuts and make sure everything is secure either with cotter pins or safety wire. i feel much same as you, so ...

ewwww, chad, that looks a bit rough. but in light of that, i have found that if you just finish it out and wait till later to decide you may find it isnt nearly as bad as you think. if you go at it with the "oh well im probally gonna get another one" then you may as well trash it now. my hunch is th...

If it takes very little, to no pressure to push them down, I would try edge rolling but if it takes more pressure I would go the shrinker route possibly. The shrinker puts tiny scribe marks in the metal as it compresses / stretches’ it. I am not crazy about that. That’s why I would try the rolli...
