Started at 1:30pm and by 7pm three buddies of mine and I had the bottom skins on the left wing. I have no clue how some of you have done this by yourself! :? :? :? :? :? :?

Wow! Must be a stong engine mount.

Interesting to watch how reletively smooth the vibrations were until the prop slowed enough to cause extreme oscillations. Bet that guy had to clean out his pants when he got out. :o

Good luck on getting the rating, I got mine one year ago this month, I'm so glad I did. There is no doubt it makes you a better pilot just going through the process. I agree with 90% of my flight training completed for the instrument rating. My instructor keeps saying "get that written out of the w...

Wish Me Luck

Taking my instrument written Wednesday afternoon.

Wish me luck!

I took and passed this thing back in the early 90's but never progressed with my flight training. Don't know why but it seems harder now. I must be getting old. :P

Wing waiting on bottom skins, skins completely ready to put on. Having a bottom skin riveting party with a few other builders on Saturday 6/30/07. Hope we can knock these out in one big swoop! The ailerons are in progress and I should finish them this weekend. The flaps are after that but ...

No pics but I am slowly making progress on the ailerons. Got all 32 stiffners made and debured (Whew) both skins drilled, debured and dimpled. Almost forgot to dimple the bottom to spar holes for the pop rivets but I caught it in time. Ready to backrivet the stiffners on and get these puppies togeth...

Naa, he's got enough yokes and squeezers and a c-frame there to make it worth it. Looks like allot of small but expensive stuff in the trays as well.

Chad looks cool. I have a friend that is building him a 6A and he decided not to put in a CD player. He saved all that panel space by installing a small little 1/8" jack for his "MP3" player that is about the size of a cigarette lighter. Small, light, sounds great, holds a bazillion songs and you ca...

I'm about to get started on the wings, and I sure as crap don't want to screw those up! The wings are not hard, just repetitive and time consuming. Make sure you do a good job identifying parts as there are some brain teasers when it comes to left and right etc. Also take the time to do a good flut...

Got a bad case of the Chinese food digestive track disruption syndrom on Friday which put a dent in my aircraft building time. (It was bad :( and lasted for two days :o ) So the only thing I got done is deburing and dimpling all four bottom wing skins. This is no small task as there must be a bazill...

Question on flap brace

I riveted on my flap brace yesturday and due to all the various levels the base of the flap brace sits against, the skin to brace flange seems to be slightly warped up. http://aycu38.webshots.com/image/16917/2000431639046612695_rs.jpg See in the pic, the brace is not straight and flat but wavy down ...

You can do two layers like others have said. Works fine. For the rear spar, give it a crank or two with the deburing tool anyway due to the thickness of the spar it does not get as crisp of a dimple.

Standard build for no reason but money! I don't dislike building but if I could have skipped all the repetitive task, I would in a heart beat. I am really looking forward to the systems, avionics and engine install! (Don't have a clue how I am going to pay for it at this time.)

Wiring my panel will be the best part for me. Just remember hot on the left and cold on the right and cr...
