Joe, it's hard from your description to visualize the problem and know exactly what's wrong. Where the twist is, and so on. A picture or two would add a lot. But honestly, 1/16" to 1/8" doesn't sound like very much to me. Again, not knowing the exact nature of the problem, I may be way off here. But...

Mike, I came back and watched this again. AWESOME!! That's all I gotta say. :)

It has inspired me to install a mounting of some kind on my tail, too, for a camera like this. I love this perspective!

Bruce, Where are you at with the flying lessons? Sorry to be so slow answering you, Bob. Still not taking flying lessons yet, but hope to start sometime this summer perhaps. Money is tight, and I'm still climbing a steep hill buying things for the RV's firewall forward phase. Just starting wiring a...

I used my dremel tool and a cutting bit to slowly enlarge the hole a little bit at a time. It's an iterative process, for sure. But once I had the first one finished and smoothed up, I taped a piece of paper over it, folded with the seam along the bottom of the side skin, folded at 90° also going u...

Same here! I never bothered to get a whole set of bits, preferring to spend the money on airplane parts. I still have my original larger bits that I've had since the very start, and I've been through maybe a half-dozen #30's and maybe 10 or 12 #40's. A few good bits will build a whole airplane. I di...

Chad, I just came on and got all upset and then all relieved, all in the time span of a couple of minutes. Man! I can't take this. All I can say is, I'm very, VERY happy that you're still there. Whatever happened, I'm glad they saw a way to keep you there. I think you're doing a tremendous job, a se...

Bruce is right. The FI simply uses a higher operating pressure electric pump, but the mechanical one (pretty sure) is the same as the one on carb engines. 8) CJ CJ, I was just reading through this thread again and I thought I should clarify something you said about the engine-driven fuel pumps on o...

Smitty, I made a simple sling out of some scrap lumber and seatbelt webbing to hold my tail during all the work done on the finish kit. I used it right up to the time I installed the mains and hung the engine. Here's a shot of it: http://www.europa.com/~swayze/RV-7A/Finishing/P1020049%20(Small).JPG ...

Bruce, did you set up your fuel lines with provision for return lines to the tanks?? Did I see an ad for the Andair Fuel injection pump that does not need the return lines? Gary, when I built my wings I put a fuel return line in one of the tanks, but I probably won't use it. I'll just leave it plug...

CJ: The Fuel Injection system sounds interesting. i got the impression it was pretty complicated. For our planes, you need quite an exotic fuel pump arrangement, is that right? Do you need additional return lines to the tanks?? If the pumps are electric, aren't ya hooped if your electric quits??? N...

Finally got to meet CHAD!

... and Jeff Skiles, too! I've been working on my RV-7A for just over 6 years now. During most of this time, I've been on Rivetbangers. I love it here. I followed Chad's progress with great interest as he finished and flew his RV-7. I have enjoyed this forum immensely. I couldn't put a price on all ...

Thanks for all the hints!!

I appreciate all the hints, my friends. Thanks so much! I'm confident that I can drill the remaining holes for the control cables with my right-angle drill with little trouble. I have to put the engine on first because my configuration is non-standard as well. Similar to yours, Brian. Thanks for the...

Wow, Mike, that's awesome!! I'm curious how you put the mount on the tail. Did you drill out rivets? Or did you have some provision already in place? Nutplates? I'd like to have a camera like this some day on mine, too.

Thanks, guys, for all the hints! Bruce, you're right... I didn't have the firewall recess riveted on at this point. My main objective for the day was to get the mains on the fuselage. Putting the motor mount and nose wheel on was an afterthought. I did it the next day. It was so easy, it only took a...

She now has legs, and is on her gear! http://www.europa.com/~swayze/RV-7A/FirewallFwd/P1060245%20(Small).JPG This was so easy, I'm still in shock. Did it all by myself in less than an hour.
