Sam James Cowl -- 12-14 Week backorder
FYI - For anyone who is planning on using a Sam James Holy Cowl somewhat soon, Liz James emailed me letting me know there is a 12-14 week lead time for those items. If you are interested, you can contact her at liz@jamesaircraft.com and put yourself on the contact list. There is no deposit nor oblig...

What I did in the last 32 hours...
The last 32 hours have been quite busy for me. Here is a summary of what happened: - Drove 1200+ miles. - Rode a Mechanical Bull at a country bar outside of Detroit. - visited Flint, MI (where I went to college) to remember why I left. - visited Frostburg State College in Western MD to go to a frat ...

Garmin specifies that all harnesses be factory or dealer made in order to comply with the warranty. Ah, you guys buying new garmin stuff need to worry about 'em warranties! I only do deals on things that I will be using. If that's the case, then why are you asking for suggestions for future group b...

CJ- I *might* be interested. If I find a good deal on a used 327, then I would be all over that. Is there going to be an additional charge for a harness? If so, that's a deal breaker for me. I am rolling my own! Why don't you get started on something I can't get a deal on used....like a Sammy James ...

I don't know how much of a deal you could work on a 327 transponder (or any other garmin panel mount avionics). New they go for $1700, and Garmin won't let shops sell them to homebuilders without the shop selling you a harness. On Ebay, used ones seem to go in the $1250-1350 range. I'm looking hard ...

Can some one say...INVENTORY TIME? Congrats on getting started with your project. Remember that over the next few years you will go through every emotion known to man, but always keep with it! The highs are WAY better than the lows. My best piece of advice (if you haven't done it already) is find pe...

Bolt Edge Distance
I know there is a general rule that rivets are supposed to have a edge distance of 2x the diameter. One question I have is what's the rule for bolts? I was in the process of attaching the seat belt anchors to the longeron. I drew where the AN3 (#12) holes were supposed to be, and it was 9/32" from t...

Nice! Another painted interior too. You guys working on your fuselages are setting the bar high. Originally, I wasn't going to paint my interior until later. After talking with a bunch of other RV builders, they all said they would of much rather of painted everything before the fuse went together....

Joe,
I answered you on the "other" forum, but I will post again for other people in see. I made my own centering jig with some 2" angle and a drill press vice. It worked absolutely great. Pics and documentation are here:

P.S. Mike, you still at Oktoberfest? (You BUM!) CJ- I think I forgot where I am! Women wear Dirndl's, men wear leder hosen, you can drink beer on the streets without someone looking funny at you, and they have this festival with 100,000 people drinking liters of beer. http://img205.imageshack.us/im...

I had the same issue with the drawings not matching up with the canopy decks. When I called up Van's, they said it has to do with the printing process of the drawings and there will be variations. Their final word of advice was to match the bend with the curve of the aft canopy deck. However, be sur...
