Ever had Stag? That stuff is CHEAP! My brother in law lived by it in college!
I think it's against the law to put "Stag" and "beer" in the same thread!

Congrats on your progress.

Questions

Chad,
Do you know the weight difference between the V6 and lyc?
Are they having any cooling issues with it?
(You can tell it's summertime by the amount of cooling/radiator threads on the Egg forums  )

Fuse stands

Chad,
I've read some builders use fuse rotators (converted Harbor Freight engine stand) while working inside the fuse. Did you consider this? Pros and Cons?

It's always good to get a fresh start with a clean workspace! Maybe you could put a belly mower on it so it can get more fresh air! :P

Chad & Brit,
Congratulations! Just think of the alternative places you'll have for anniversary dinner when the RV is done!
Yes, 120 miles south of you, mowing season got here a week earlier.

extra AL sheets

Hi Joe! We've all been there and everything will be cool, you will see. Van's really ought to change the name of the tail kit to "the practice kit", because that's kind of what it turns out to be. There was a large bundle of extra aluminum sheets that came with my tailkit, all in various thicknesse...

Coordinated positive G turns

Another basic law of physics says that liquids in connected compartments seek the same level and when the vent becomes submerged, the line becomes part of the tank (since the other end is open) and the level will equilize to whatever the tank levels are. Since whatever forces, whether gravity or in...

Coordinated turn

Paul, For the same reason the tea stays in the glass for Bob Hoover, the fuel in your tank will remain level with the centrifugal forces and therefore will not move through the vent lines. Again, the fuel doesn't care what your bank angle it is as long as you are in a coordinated turn (i.e. the ball...

I don't think the vents care what angle the bank is as long as it is a coordinated turn... (Check Bob Hoover's YouTube video where he pours a glass of tea while doing a roll) I plan on using the rocket style venting in the wing root. I don't think it will vent much more fuel than Van's method. In a ...

Egg Sube vs Lyc

Chad,
In your research, did you find performance (cruise speed at similar fuel flow) comparable between the H6 and a Lyc (I)O 360? Are Sube powered planes slower than other planes with similar HP?

thanks,

My long term goal is to have the empennage, wings and fuselage (all standard build and pay as I go) completed by 28 Dec 2010, which is also the date I retire. At that point, I will have the funds available to purchase the engine and panel, and will able to work full time to complete the project. So ...

cost of shipping

I don't remember where I read this, but I seem to remember a discussion on shipping rates before. The finish kit is shipped as "plastics" as opposed to whatever the other kits are labeled, and the rate goes up because of that. Any one else heard of this?

Carl, There is an airport about 10 miles east of me (3K6) with a flying RV4 and 2 RV7s under construction. Also ALN is 25 miles north of me (I joined the EAA chapter) with several builders/flyers. I got a ride in a 6A there last summer. I am 1/4 mile off I55 at Highway 159. You're welcome to stop an...

Greetings fellow builders. Just joined the group after lurking for several months. I finally made the decision on which plane best fit my mission and the empennage for the RV-7A was delivered last Friday. I know I have a huge learning curve so thanks in advance for your patience with questions. I ha...
