Re: Dimple question
Just started dimpling the VS skin with the pneumatic squeezer and noticed the following "ring" around the dimple: Is this something others have experienced? The face of the male die is smooth and I can't see any real cause for it. Obviously it will go away when prepped / painted, but this didn't ha...

Scribing/identifying parts
I don't think it's a good idea to scribe thin parts. I suppose it might be ok on thick Alum Angle or such, but why bother when you can use a sharpie marker. Even when you have washed and alodined the parts, you can usually still see the faint outline of where your writing was. Simply re-trace/re-wri...

Re: In the beginning...
I plan on starting my empennage in the next month or so and I really want to keep my mistakes to a minimum. I was wondering if you all would share with me your thoughts: #1 three specific things in your personal view to avoid or pay particular attention to. #2 three specific items( unusual items or...

F-857-B seat belt attach parts
Anyone know if I'm suppose to make the F-857-B angle piece from something other than called out for in Van's plans on drawing 32? The drawing calls out AA6-125X1X1 1/2 as the raw stock to use, but I can't find any of that.. I do have some 125 X 1 1/2 X 2" angle but not sure if it's for something els...

prepunched holes off a little
Tshort,
I will assume you are talking about wing ribs to wing skins ?
no matter really. Follow Spike and Mustangs advice.. Flute the holes straight, check with a ruler or flexible straight edge, then do a final check by cleco'ing it to the skins.
