Keep it simple - Builder Name, Model and Serial Number.
My Model is a "Bullock Special" and Serial number of 001. The Tax Man knows what an RV is worth...but not a Bullock Special!

Re: RIP Co-Pilot Wyatt
This is the last pic I have of Wyatt but definitely not my last encounter with the best dog ever. Superb dog, mediocre owner!
PS - Hey CJ - Sweet hat! I wish I could get a VP hat as nice as yours

Landing on ICE! (Alton Bay - 1B8)
I was browsing the interwebs last night (Friday) and noticed some of the RivetBangers and New England Flash Mob members were heading up to Alton Bay, NH to land on their recently opened Ice Runway - it's the only FAA approved ice runway in the US. Alton Bay does a great job updating everyone of it's...

Re: Wiring Harness
Hi Joe, I rolled my own wiring harness. I didn't find it all that difficult. The hardest thing for me was putting together the wiring diagram for how the center stack was connected (Audio Panel, Garmin 430, 2nd comm + transponder). Once I had the diagram made, it took me about 4-6 hours to get it al...

Re: Ground cable to replace
OK fellers today I sourced the cable and lugs. Price - free. Can't afford to pay more just logged another 1.4 h on the hobbs today. Will it ever end? :) Lookin' good VLAD! How large is that wire...it doesn't look to be 2 gauge? I dont think the insulation material makes much difference for the engi...

Out of curiosity, what's wrong with the screw-type lugs compared to the crimp lugs?

Re: Ground cable to replace
Hi Vlad, I used Welding Wire, which is composed of a number of very fine copper wires and has a lot more flex than the Tefzel wire you use, on top of better conductivity. I think the stiffness of the wire is a large contributor to your issue. PM me your address and I'll send you a couple of feet of ...

Re: 2016 Flying Stats
2016 was about average for me in terms of hours - just about 100, which is about what I have been averaging for the last 5 years. This year took me on a lot of fun adventures: March - Beer Exchange with CJ http://rvplane.com/showthumb.php?picname=DSCN4819.JPG April - Sun 'n' Fun with Peter Barrett. ...

Re: Two Years Flying!
Wow, how time literally flies! Yesterday was my second anniversary of my project being an actual airplane. When the prop stopped after my celebratory flight the hobbs showed 496 hours. Not bad for two years if I do say so myself. This is waaaayyyy too much fun to be legal! Chad, I will put your box...

Re: DIY: Cable to record cockpit audio on your Smartphone/GoPro
Hi Chris, First and foremost, welcome to Rivetbangers! I don't think you need to be concerned with the mic jack, as the mic audio is fed back through the headphones via the intercom. You only need the 1/4" plug and jack. I haven't used this with the GoPro yet (I have the GoPro mounted on the tail of...

RivetBangers APRS Tracker
I am proud to announce today RivetBangers now hosts an APRS tracking utility. It is extremely similar to what Joe Dubner's mail2600.com tracking system. Please check it out at http://www.RivetBangers.com/aprs/ . Let me know if any bugs or issues you find, and if you have a recommendation for any imp...

Re: ELT Antenna Placement
Craig, I went through a similar dilemma on my RV-7 on where to put the antenna. Most of my concern was it ripping off the fuselage during an accident. After analyzing all of the different locations, I decided putting it under the empennage fairing provided the most protection of the antenna during a...

Craig, Here is the picture you were trying to post. Apologies for the Gallery being so cludgey - it is a left over artifact from the previous owner of RB. I keep it around just to make sure the picture links still work from previous posts. I suggest using PhotoBucket to post pictures in. It's a fant...

Painless- A++ Job on RivetBangers media coverage of Oshkosh 2016!
