Re: 2016 Flying Stats

Mikey, What a great year of flying! It is great that you run this place FOR the enthusiasts. All that you do is greatly appreciated and you never ask a dime for it! This place needs more activity. Does anyone have some ideas on how to get this site to become more active? I like the small town atmos...

Re: Ground cable to replace

Russki, The actual type of insulation is shown to the left of all that writing. It is probably and XLPE or THHN/XHHW. Very common building wire... Either way you slice it... probably a 90 degree C conductor. That COULD be the T90 mark on it. What size is it, #2 AWG? I have some here if you want to m...

Re: Ground cable to replace

Mikey, Absolutely nothing is WRONG with the ilsco lugs, I just wouldn't put them on my plane. I have installed thousands of them and over my 30 years as a licensed electrician never seen one fail or cause a problem if it is installed correctly. That means using copper type on copper wires and alumin...

Re: Ground cable to replace

Yeah Dude! I also have a few extra feet of #2 MS22759 cable floating around. We can make a longer cable if need be.

...or fix this one for another 3,000 hours!

Well, pick one up and stop by sometime! We can have you fixed up in a Jiffy! I have an Electrical Code meeting both Saturday AND Sunday. I am available Saturday night though if you want to do it then. No big HOOPING it up though. I need to be back on Cape Cod by 08:00 Sunday AM for my Code update cl...

Russki, YOUR aging eyes picked up on that crack REALLLY nice! You must be hanging around Billy again! :spit: That is the kind of failure Mitch usually leaves for Sunday mornings before a long flight! :smash: Don't listen to Mikey either! I am a PE (Professional Electrician) and I would an...

Re: 2016 Flying Stats

Bruce, Add Plymouth, MA to your bucket list! My year wasn't as good as last year. I planned to top another 300 this year as I did last, but can't honestly say so. I might have fell about ten hours short? Here I am approaching 600 hours on my plane and CAN'T BELIEVE I made this thing in my garage! I ...

Wow! This post goes back SEVEN YEARS AND TWO DAYS! Hi Brett! Thanks for getting back to me! Everyone sang your praises. My case must have been isolated, but needless to say I got the lines done on my own. Welcome to the forum! It isn't overly active here, but we do communicate regularly. Thank...

Two Years Flying!

Wow, how time literally flies! Yesterday was my second anniversary of my project being an actual airplane. When the prop stopped after my celebratory flight the hobbs showed 496 hours. Not bad for two years if I do say so myself. This is waaaayyyy too much fun to be legal! Chad, I will put your box ...

Great way to start the fall

I got wind of a fly in at Grignon's Field (ME62) in Maine. It seems that Noah (RV-7A N07AH) is personal friend's with the owners of the field. They were having a fall fly in and we were invited. When we got there, there was lots of food and drink. Some of it I couldn't drink until we got home. I spo...

Re: Finding a good Paint Shop

Bruce, You should fly it out here and have the guy who painted Mike's (my hangar mate) airplane. I think you looked pretty close at it and it does better than pass muster! He will do everything kit to kaboodle including design and up to three colors with some body work for about $9,000. You will pro...
