Sorry to hear that Ron! Is she involved with the construction process at all? Just wondering, 'cuz I'll be dealing with the same thing in my little world. I am trying to talk it up as much as I can to get her involved with the process. So far, so good...she wants to help! I am going to put cable TV ...

Good question snap. I read it somewhere...I think on the Van's website on the story page.

You're right though, the numbers are great either way!

Thanks John, I am happy with it so far!

Yeah, I know about the 3 hour burn rating. 5/8t" is required for that wall, and, unfortunately, it will have to be mudded-but not the others! :)

I used 5/8" for the ceiling, and 1/2" for the other walls.

mmmmmm......beeeeerrr...it's that time!

I'm pretty limited on mudding experience as well, but I have done it enough to know that I don't want to do it if I don't have to!

Beer fridge is a neccesity and will go right under 4x8 table, already have the spot planned!

I have been doing a lot of reading and research on the rotary engine, and like spike, am a long time from this point, but this engine has definately got my full attention! I thought, without a doubt, that I'd end up with an IO-360, but now I am wavering from that thought. Be fun to watch over the ne...

The shop is comin' along...

I spent Sunday working on my shop, doing more drywall. Here's a shot of the 1/2 in two and half car garage that'll used for aircraft manufacturing. http://www.rivetbangers.com/albums/hangar/5_23_004.jpg Where the saw horses are, there will be a 4x8 foot table. The florescent light will be hung above...

Nice pic John! You look like you got caught doing something you shouldn't be doing! Working on the airplane when another project is being put on hold, and the wife caught ya!!! HA!

Just kidding...looks great!

p-wich, I am going to use 988 or NAPA 7220 rattle can on my non-alclad and mating surfaces. I don't think it will take extra time-it dries in minutes! I live in Illinois where corrosion is not an issue. The '68 Cherokee that I had was an Ohio airplane before I brought it to Illinois, and there was N...

Voted. Definately knots. I had a Cherokee that was in MPH, and I didn't like it for the same reason spike stated-charts and approach plates. Van's uses MPH 'cuz the numbers look better. I am going to have to use what I'm used to, Knots.

Welcome! :) I have done the training kit that Van's offers, and I would highly recommend making that purchase to practice on. It's $32, and you can screw up, and not worry about that fact that you have just ruined a skin. I am probably going to do a second one to further tune some riveting skills. T...

One of the guys I work with has a $SET$ of Snap On torque wrench's, which he just told me I can borrow anytime. Good deal! I'll probably end up buying one, 'cuz I like to have my own stuff, but it's a nice offer anyway that'll get me by in a pinch. I haven't used the el cheapo Pittsburg, and don't p...

I LOVE grass runways! I learned to fly on an airport that had both, and everytime the wind favored the grass, it was a great day! Of course, my instructor made me practice crosswind landings the whole time. :(

Anyway, I am done with the kit, and it turned out pretty good. There were several screw ups, but I guess...
