Re: Wiring Harness
Did you all order different colors of wire? I was considering mostly white and using a label maker to mark all of the ends. How much should I buy? All of our aircraft are similar, meow much and where did you purchase? Thanks Joe My recommendation and what I did in my RV-10. White = Data Red = Ground...

So what night is Mike treating the gang to prime rib at the Otter this year?
Since Van's raised their banquet to $40 this year, I think Tuesday would be a good night. It worked well for me last year.

Everyone still circling Green Lake
It's been quiet since Oshkosh. I am beginning to think folks are still circling Green Lake.

I may have a vehicle, but won't know until I get to OSH on Saturday. Assuming that I can get to OSH on Saturday! Jason Seavolt, Joe M., and a Brad are planning on joining us. Jason has a decked out RV-8 that will be on display at the Garmin tent. Tomorrow I should hear if Will Westfall will be join...

Re: Oshkosh 2018
The cold front appears to be slowing down. This morning's forecast is showing the front parked over Dayton Saturday morning. If we can get on the other side of the front it shouldn't be a problem for anyone flying IFR. It looks likes it's going to be MVFR most of the way for me.

Nice! We might arrive on Saturday!?! 8) CJ At least arriving on Saturday shouldn't be an issue for you. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for anyone that lives east of Ohio at the moment. Between the thunderstorms and low clouds, its starting to look like last year again. Especially with that col...

I was tripled booked for dinner on Wednesday night and with Van's raising the price to $40, I wasn't going to the banquet anyways.
Tuesday works for me!

Re: Panel Upgrade
Power connections checked. Does that mean that you just checked wire continuity or did you validate that you had the proper voltage on the pin? I just re-rewired my panel. Everything worked correctly except one dpdt switch. I was about ready to tear things apart thinking I did something stupid when ...

Re: Panel Upgrade
I was concerned that it would get wet being just under were the empennage fairing meets up with the vertical stabilizer, so I put the magnetometer in a plastic bag before mounting it. I used zip ties to hold it in place.... quick, easy and non-magnetic. Since this is an air cooled device, any conce...

Re: Hello I'm new
Can a armature builder build 100 percent without paperwork and not be restrictive? On this part of the question, any builder (A&P or not) needs to keep paperwork and show it to he FAA if they expect to get an airworthiness certificate and be able to fly the plane when it's completed. Steve Even if ...

Re: Hello I'm new
Amateur is defined as anyone that is not getting paid, but specifically, the FAA states is just building for education and enjoyment. This is strictly for EAB aircraft and doesn't apply to any other type of airframes. Like Mike mentioned, you can assist others as a paid professional A&P, but the air...

Re: Hello I'm new
I think you'll find that the demand for professional builders in the US is low. The FAA requires that a minimum of 51% is amateur built. You can assist with portions of the build, but not build turnkey RV's commercially. With that said, there is significant gray areas and it's hard for the FAA to po...

Re: Interior/seat choices
I'm a bit biased, I have Aerosport Products seats.
I would give Geoff or Zac a call. They have a computer program that can facilitate all kinds of custom designs to meet your requirements. They do more than what's on the web site.

Re: Too quiet for the week before OSH
I'm skipping Van's this year too! At $25 is was ok, but at $35 for the same ole food, I decided to pass. We've got a gaggle of RVs departing central Ohio at 7:00am ET hoping to miss all the forecasted pop ups. I've got an IFR slot, but haven't decided yet what route I've going to take. Over the lake...

Re: Too quiet for the week before OSH
Post by captain_john » Sat Jul 15, 2017 8:34 am Bob, you are going to be at OSH but can't make it to those IMPORTANT venues!?! What is up with that? What is more important than the beer tasting and the Black Otter? For years, I've had three conflicts on Wednesday night. I usually attend each on a t...
