RV Kit Orders
Thanks, Chad. I'm thoroughly enjoying myself, so far, and I haven't even banged (pulled in the RV-12's case) a rivet yet!!!

How Can You Guys Afford This Stuff
Rod, my response is not meant to put you down, not in the least, but your original sentence about being "new to aviation" speaks VOLUMES! Lawyers and product liability laws, and deep-pocket payouts... THEY are why aviation is so expensive!!! Experimental aviation has done A LOT to minimize this beca...

RV Kit Orders
Thanks Mike. That pretty much explains it quite thoroughly!

Actually, I don't know yet. Whatever type of rivets that Van's uses in their "fastener kits." I just ordered the empennage/fastener kits on Friday, and it will probably be a week or two before they arrive. I'll let you know when the kits arrive and I learn what type of rivets they use. Maybe someone...

I didn't really want to start a new subject, but I didn't see any category that my question would fit into. Anyway, question: I currently have several pneumatic rivet guns for "banging" rivets, but since the RV-12 uses "pulled rivets," does anyone have any suggestions as to what us a good pneumatic ...

For our RV-12 builders out there
Thanks Scott for your pilot report and your words of praise for the Rotax engine and the light-sport category, in general. I just ordered the empennage kit for the RV-12, and it was a big move, committing oneself to a particular model and engine. It's not like you can easily change your mind and ret...

Third Class Light Sport
One last comment from me on the subject; I learned a long time ago, "in life, don't worry about those things that you have zero control over." And besides, those of us who are building RV-12s are most likely in our "senior years" because of the "no-medical required" feature of the light-sport catego...

Third class and Light Sport
Prestwich brings up a couple of good points, but after ALPA (airline pilot's association)declared their opposition to the 3rd class medical falling under light sport rules, I think nothing will change, at least for the foreseeable future.

RV Kit Orders
By the way, can somebody in the forum explain to me what the different class designations under our screen names is all about. Being a pilot, when I think of "classes" I think of different types of airspace, controlled and otherwise. But I don't think that is the case here. Can somebody shed some li...

RV Kit orders
Hello everybody, I'm new to this forum (first post), but I would like to say that I like everything that I've seen on this website, so far, and I would like to announce that I just ordered the empennage kit to Van's RV-12.
