I like the fact that they design them to fit exactly in the same hole and screw placement as their regular strobes. I can see myself replacing mine to LED's down the road a bit. The only question I have is what to do about the tail strobe ? Sounds like this setup only comes as pairs, so I guess for ...

I like the third one down. Kind of a "Re-entry" pic showing the heat off the underside. That does look a bit like that. Chad, how nasty is the glare when the sun is off the wingtip and you catch it at just the right angle and the top of the wingskin reflects that into the cockpit? Hope you have a g...

The Plane looks great !
I'm sure the inspection will go smoothly and soon you'll be up flying off those 40 hours. Enjoy the phase 1 and keep us up to date after the first flight is done.
Best wishes,

I've been fitting mine in the hangar, then bringing them home to finish with the sanding and painting where it's warmer. Put just the wheel pants on today and saw about an 8 kt increase. I still have to add the intersection fairings to them and clean up a few other areas. Today's flight back from ge...

Capacitive senders

I have capacitive senders in my wings and love them. They seem to be very accurate in my first 23.5 hours of flying. I am using the GRT/Princeton converters with my GRT Sport EFIS/EIS. I'll have to SECOND this comment ! :) I too love them. They are soooo acurate in both cruise and on the ground. (o...

One new development, It is real sensitive in roll. well thats not new, but today I gave the stick a little tap and it seemed unstable and the oscillations got worse Have you talked with anyone about this yet ? (Van's or a flight advisor) Yes, a flight advisor. I have some rigging checks to do first...

Chad, Get some .125 aluminum angle stock and fabricate two pieces like you see here below. One on each side. This worked out great for me and really makes it bullet proof. It should work fine with your plenum. Also I noticed on your photo that you don't have the 3/4 brace down the side of the baffle...

Perhaps you can teach that smart girl of yours to peel off the blue plastic then ;). I've got a dash-hound ;) who loves to open the plastic bags of small parts whenever I'm building something. Now if I can only teach him to leave my waffles alone. http://www.rivetbangers.com/g2data/forums/albums/use...

My guess is the vent lines may be leaking inside the cabin ? Check for loose fittings as they come into the cabin and where they exit. It usually shows up when you have filled the tanks full and it expands up into the breather line. Look closely for any blue stains ;). One morning as I arrived at th...

Metal Prep 79 It's blue in color and is perfect for prepping aluminum. You let it soak in, rub it around, and then wash off with water. It's kind of like Dawn Dishwashing liquid, but wear gloves as it does have some etching solution to it. It works great for killing any minor corrosion on used alumi...

The rods that pin into the blocks and the blocks are included. The only hardware item you need to purchase is the lock. There is also a couple of small pieces you have to fabricate from the aluminum stock. I think it's all part of the finish kit, except for the lock, which you can get from any Lowes...

I'll give my wallet a break this week from Avgas and will be working on the wheel pants. Now's your chance to catch back up ;).
