If you have to open up holes in the canopy I recommend using a uni bit. They make them in various sizes and step increments. I believe the holes in the canopy need to be larger than the srew size for expansion and contraction from hot and cold temperatures. I have not done my canopy yet but have ins...

I recently purchased the Cleveland edge forming tool and Love it. I practiced on scrap I recomend useing the edge forming tool BEFORE dimpling your part the tool instructions do not mention this. You do have to maintain a little forward pressure to keep the tool riding on the guide. Mike Balzer[/b]

Should Aileron Leading Edge rolled with edge forming tool?

Are most people rolling leading edge on ailerons? I have seen it done on the wing skings but I dont know if it would be a good idea for the ailerons.

Thanks,

I recommend that you have a helper and double up the duct tape so that it does not tear. The rudder was much harder than the elevator.
Take your time, this is a PITA.

Thank you for your comments, My uni-bit stopped at 3/4 and I located the hole per vans blue print that have been hard to find but I have seen it on other builders web sites. I like the idea about moisture being able to run out by slitting it on the bottom. Have any rv had problems with water in cond...

Is 13/16 hole better for wing wireing conduit than 3/4 hole

I have read that some builders are drilling the hole for the wing wireing to 13/16 instead of 3/4 or making the hole slightly larger than 3/4 to ease the pulling of the conduit. What would be the best way to go.

Pat,
I glad to see your OK. Is there a chance you could post a picture of the bolts and hardware in the configuration your discribing. This may help me and other pilots get a better visual.

I couldnt agree with you more Bob,
I use to enlarge the holes to 1/4 for a 3/16- 10/32 screw. You defiantly need some clearance.

I have found that an Uni-bit works great when you have a small pilot hole.

I have installed a couple of windows in aircraft by this method

Building And Sealing Tanks With Clecoes?

I read an article about an RV builder that assembled his tanks using clecoes and 6/32 nuts and then riveting it together the following day. Does anyone know who's web site this was so I can read about it more. I have been searching and haven't found it. Any comments and information is appreciated. M...

I purchased a wire stripper that looked just like that at frys electronics. I spent $8 on it and it stripped all sizes of wires flawlessly. I worked in the electronic prop shop for the movie Armageton and stripped over 8,000 wires and the stripper still works great even today. I purchased an extra c...
