Thanks Craig,
I worked on it last night and finished it. It turned out better then I thought. I guess I was over thinking it. I wanted to make sure that the Center line of taper was in center line of rib while trimming it to fit the rib.

Thanks Again,

Fuel Tank T-405 bracket ?

Hi fellow RBers, In the process of laying out the T-405 bracket, I cant tell the dimensions of the lower part of the taper. The upper section has a 1" radius and tapers to WHAT? It looks like 3 3/4 but it appears that most people are tapering it to something like 3 1/2 or less than that. How critica...

Thats real nice,

I cant wait. Lots of work sill left. Building left wing fuel tank right now.

It seams like it takes forever to build on a restricted work schedule.

Take care,

Thanks Chad & Spike, I could have opened up the holes but thought I may be needing the 10/32 nut plates for something else. I just had to be patient and drill all those nut plates out. I thought about putting tank sealant over the doubler but I figured that the cover plate should seal every thing OK...

Installed Wrong Nut Plates on Fuel Tank Access cover

I installed 10/32 nut plates on fuel tank access cover instead of 8/32. I had to drill out all nut plates and install the right ones or open up the holes to a # 11 drill. I chose to drill out all nut plates and installed the correct ones. I was tired and the 8 at the end of the part # looked like a ...

Bruce, Nice work and quality documentation on your web site. I use yours and many other builders to for see what to expect on the next component that I am building and always look for good advice or problem areas. I too don't have a PPL and plan on learning on a tail dragger aircraft only. thanks, m...

My opinion is that you can always throttle back and save on fuel. It never hurts to have a better climb rate and speed. A responsible pilot has to always pay attention to VNE. Even a lower HP engine could exceed VNE in a dive. If I was building a 9 I would put a 360 in it. Just my .02 worth, Mike Ba...

I recently saw the Doug Bell TW in person and the quality and workmanship was outstanding. I put myself on the list to receive one and he E-mailed me back wanting to know if my plane was in the build status or is flying. I hope to get a Doug Bell TW and I think the people with flying aircraft should...

Great Idea,
after building my left flap and using a 1097 oops rivet for the rib that attaches the nut plate, I found that using an AN470 3-4 worked out just fine with no problems, You just want to rivet that one first so that you clear the doubler.

Toms right, wing nut or draw clecos are primarly made for thicker materials, I used them alot in the airlines when you put a special sealant between the parts you are riveting to make sure the part you are riveting stays firmly seated before the sealant cures. The sealant was 1436 corrosion inhibiti...

Thanks so much for your input Don, My flap turned out very nice besides the ski jump. If the Right Flap is the same I may just leave well enough alone and keep building. If I find I cant get them to line up correctly or it effects the way the aircraft flies I may build new ones. have a great week, M...
