Brian, When did you buy your tail kit? I'm just curious because your builder # is 428 kits later than mine, and I wondered how long it took Van's to sell to you after I bought... Chad, My original number was #25926. I originally started the tail kit in mid 2000. After I started, they came out with ...

It takes about 30 minutes til...

Don't buy a junker

"Top of my list is a combo milling machine and lath. Oh the stuff I could make with one of those." I have used the cheaper combo mill/lathe units and they are pure crap! Do not buy a cheap one or you will be very disappointed. These things are not rigid enough to machine anything well. Plus the tool...

Contact your government!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With all the bad, biased, and ingorant press hitting the American public regarding General Aviation, we all need to contact our government and let them know what we think and how we feel. http://www.firstgov.gov/Contact...

Leave as is...

Since this is already dimpled, I would leave as is and if it really bothers you, put a backer in there like was mentioned before. I did this on my rear spar of my left elevator on the outboard side top because I was having a bad day and countersunk the entire top of the spar not thinking that the hi...

Countersink the brace

On the emp, the directions say to countersink the spar and dimple the skin and let the shop head form on the thicker material of the hinge. I just watched this on the Orndorf video last night for the 6 and he also countersinks the brace. I have been taught that anytime you have three layers of mater...
