Way, way OT

First off, I'm a big Simpsons fan. So, I'm sitting here watching the Simpsons between coats of sealer on the new tile ... Homer and Mr. Burns take Mr. Burns' Gulfstream to Chicago ... the pilot calls in N543C. So during the ads, I look up the N number: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N543C Funny....

You have to cut a fair amount away there ... on the -8 it is depicted somewhere on the plans. Mine was 3/4" + on the top and bottom...

Maybe a dumb question, but...

Can it interface with the EFIS?
I don't see AFS on the list...?

Jeff-

Thanks. Do you recall if that's what the plans call out? Do you happen to have any pics?

Thanks!

Yeah ... all things considered, that is a great place to do it!

I managed to do mine on one of the stiffener holes in the fuel tank skin! :bang:

Actually, if that is one of the fairing attach holes you might be OK. You can enlarge and smooth out the hole, then just put a nutplate behind it for the fairing attach - no one will ever know.

I asked Robbie Grove himself about that at OSH and he said they really only sell the 1 piece gear for planes that have had damage and can't have the two piece gear installed. I didn't know about Paul's gear then (this was summer 2006) so I didn't mention it... My 2 piece gear seem pretty stout ... I...

I tried multiple things; cut and paste the image location via R click, via properties, etc.
I have had this problem before ... I wonder if it has something to do with me using Firefox instead of IE?

Thanks for the input.

Thanks ... I guess that isn't the spar flange but part of the carry through.

So what was I doing wrong on the image insertion???

RV-6

I'm helping Stu redo some wiring in the -6 he bought already flying... He is wondering if the tabs on the seat supports are supposed to be riveted to the spar flange: http://rivetbangers.com/cgi-php/forumsGallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4430&g2_serialNumber=1 Anyone know? :bang:...

So what are you gonna use it in? Maybe a Hummel Bird - we watched those at OSH this year - they were pretty sweet. I know how the side projects go ... I have been away from the -8 (aside from going out to the shop and looking at it) for most of the year due to this home remodel project. Every little...

Didn't know Sam James made a cowl to fit VW (or should I say "WV") engines...

I have a 200 in the C-170 and am thinking about upgrading just because of the display. I fly a lot in the dark - early AM and late evening, and I have to use a flashlight to see the radio.
I will probably order one for the RV ... I might just use it in the 170 until the -8 is done!

Is it the central AC for the house? My 15+ y/o system died in the same situation a few years ago; it turns out it was this huge capacitor that is mounted in the outside unit. Cost like 150-200$. Got another 5 years out of the unit. You're in a tough spot, being a heat wave, after hours, and with tho...

I pulled the conduit through 3/4" holes; it was a huge pain, even when I warmed and stretched the conduit. The only thing is, you only (hopefully!) have to do it once on each wing.
On the second wing I enlarged 75% of the holes a little to allow it to pass through better.

Air stop tubes are awesome. I never have to put air in the skyhawk tires. I bought a spare tailwheel tire / tube for the 170 from the Desser guy on Sunday - 35 smackers and I got a free tube with it. He is was a super nice guy - we spent some time talking about his motorcycle race team. Another plug...

I am still on the fence wrt this as well. I bought a 200$ spaceship looking linksys "n" router, but it won't reach the shop. Most people have told me to buy cat 6 cable and run it the 150' or so to the shop, but that sounds like a bit of a pain. My problem is that the office / cable modem is on the ...
